I dislike change, and I'm an old fuddy duddy who doesn't want to learn new platfroms, lol. Tumblr, how do you even work? I mostly understand Dreamwidth, but apparently I need to build my reading list for the few friends who came here from LJ and actually post. I think I have like 3 on my reading page. I'm trying to keep up with everyone on Twitter and Facebook but that's hit-or-miss.

I started a new course of meds back in March, and have been seeing a LCSW for counseling on the regular, both of which seem to be helping. Other than worrying about copays, obviously. I'm racking up quite the bill for copays for the psychiatrist. My therapy copays are only $12.48 a visit though, and I get assistance for my prescriptions. I'm constantly worried about losing that assistance though. Ronnie getting a car and a job works against us.

Ronnie starts his junior year of high school next week, and Davey will be a sophomore. (Kelly Marie would be starting college; I'm old.) Ronnie has been working all summer at the car dealership where my brother works. He's in the wash bay washing cars, but hopefully that helps him after he gets his auto service certifications and is ready to work in the shop. He's taking auto service at school this year and also a full year welding class - he did a half-year intro to welding class last year and really enjoyed it. Davey is focused on wrestling conditioning and his youtube channel. And considering going to Bridgewater to be a Pastor or a Music Director. He taught a class at VBS this summer and then had some kind of experience at church camp (he called it a breakdown; I asked if he meant breakthrough and he said it was kinda both). Duke and Duchess turned 6 human years old yesterday. Margrave is about 15 months which is apparently the equivalent of being a teenager, so she goes from being a crazy wild thing to having an attitude. Normal cat behavior. All my other kids are growing up on me. I don't know who told them they could do that. (Larkin says that God told her she could grow up, and that if I want a baby I should go adopt one.)

I've been watching a lot of TV and Netflix. I've only read a dozen or so books this summer, though I have read plenty of novel-length fanfic.

So there's your Tuesday Tabby Update. Now I have to go deal with the potty-training toddler. Love you all! <3

♥ The sun is shining! There's also a super nice breeze.

Happy List

why_me_why_not: (lovekitty)
It's been ages, but I used to do happy lists on the daily, and they made ME happy, so I'm going to try starting it up again. Baby steps.

♥ There was a group from Christ Lutheran Church this morning, standing on the corner in the rain to pass out free coffee, donuts, and smiles to passing cars/commuters. I don't usually drive that direction, so I don't know if this is a regular thing, but it made me smile. (I don't drink coffee, but I did talk to one of the ladies while I was stopped at the stoplight, and it was a bright spot in my morning!)

♥ There is a groundhog the size of Duchess in my neighbor's yard. I hope the neighborhood cats leave him alone, although I'm sure he could hold his own in a fight.

♥ The weather was gorgeous this weekend.

Wonder Woman was great.

♥ It's rainy this morning, which means Duke, Duchess, and Margrave wanna cuddle. Which I'm a-ok with because I'm planning on going back to bed in a few minutes and trying to sleep off this migraine before it gets too bad. (Even though I really should take them by the vet's today to have their nails trimmed.)

♥ SOLs are done, and the boys passed all of them except Ronnie's English Writing SOL (which he failed by one point and doesn't have to retake until next year). Technically my kids are in school until next Wednesday, but I think this Friday is the last day either of them have to go because they don't have to do exams. Yay Summer!

♥ Leftovers from our big Friends and Family Picnic yesterday mean I don't have to worry about making dinner tonight.

♥ I got a new baby last week! A great nephew, Bryson, born Tuesday. (Although his momma is in the hospital with c-section complications, which is definitely NOT something for the happy list.)

♥ My Aunt Vicky is heading to Nicaragua on Saturday with a group of other nurses for a mission trip of some sort.

♥ Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight!

This week's questions from [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive - these questions were written by [livejournal.com profile] lillibet.

1) What would/did you name your first child? My first child was named Kelly Marie, after my stepsister Kelly, who passed away when we were 17 and with the middle name Marie because it is a family middle name in both my family and her father's.
2) What do you think makes a good name for a baby? Um. It has to sound good together, like flow when you say it (because you're going to be saying it a lot, and using that middle name for when you mean Serious Business).
3) What do you think makes a bad name for a baby? Eh. Personally, I don't like super unique spellings of common names, names that are super difficult to spell, or people who arbitrarily name their kids one thing but never intend to call them by that name and use a middle name instead.
4) What's a name that you love, but would never give a child? Why? Not sure.
5) Did your parents do a good job naming you? Sure.

ETA: When Harley was pregnant with Illy, and she first told us she was going to use the name Illiana, I wasn't sure about it, but after 7 years, I love it. With such a big family, we sometimes have to go out of the box to come up with names (which doesn't always work, lol, because we have about a dozen variations of Jo, Joe, or Joey in our immediate family, and then we have a Harley, a Hallie, a Haley, and a Hollie, as well as an Illy and a Lily, and a Jayden, two Jordyns, a Jordan, and a Jaylyn. It's definitely easy to write the wrong name or call the wrong person sometimes!)

So, we're gonna ignore how crappy today was, and tomorrow I'm gonna post an actual happy list (with links! that's why I'm not doing it tonight!), so for tonight, how about a musicshare and a meme?

Musicshare: I Wanna Buy You a Ring by Huffamoose

I used to love the album this song was on, but my copy of it was stolen during the whole ex-husband-fucks-someone-on-a-drug-deal fiasco, and I've not been able to find a copy since then. But I love this song.

Let's play a little game, shall we? I'll tell yall some random stuff about me and then you tell me some equally random stuff about you!

Ten Things You Never Thought You Wanted to Know About Me:

1. I mash potatoes with a fork even though we have two potato mashers and a hand mixer. They just aren't the right consistency if I do it another way.

2. I sleep with a fan year round, and I can't sleep if my feet are covered.

3. Given the choice between an elevator and the stairs, I'll pick the stairs. Elevators are creepy!

4. If you buy a car because it's "pretty" without knowing what's under the hood, I will judge you SO HARD. (When I lived with Melanie, she bought an SUV just because it was purple. We had so many problems out of that P.O.S.)

5. I come from a family of moonshiners, druggies, and crazies. And I'm okay with that!

6. I hate bananas. Everything about them - taste, smell, texture. YUCK. (Have I told yall the story about the time Drewber made eclair cake with banana pudding and I had to force myself to eat it since he made it?)

7. As much as I talk about hating my job and having to work for a living, one of my biggest fears is my bipolar getting bad enough that I can't work.

8. I have a facebook and use it mainly to post pictures of my kids and to post random song lyrics. Some of the comments I get to lyrics are pretty hilarious. (Also, I've apparently offended people by saying that if I actually wanted to talk to them, I wouldn't do it on Facebook. Um, I have better social networking sites, ok?)

9. I make lists. And I make a list of my lists. And I consolidate my to do list by making another list.

10. I love summer thunderstorms (Melanie had skylights in her bedroom and when she was gone for the weekends me and the kids - my 2 + her 3 - would sleep in there. It was the best place to watch tstorms) and dancing in the rain and puddle stomping.

why_me_why_not: ('nuff said)
Yall, guess what?? I stepped on the scale and it says 199.5! It's been a long time since I saw this side of 200 pounds, lol. But that means I've lost almost 14 pounds in the last 2 months! AND! It's my fat week, so that means I'm doing good, right?

Okay, in less TMI info. OMG YALL I READ THE AWESOMEST WINCEST FIC!! Okay, so technically I beta'd it, but that totally counts as reading! And yall should go read it too!

why_me_why_not: (blame heather)
A few days ago, I made this post, and it's a circular type of meme thing, lol. And now [livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000 has given me me more words. :)

Remus/Sirius: PUPPIES! One of my few OTPs. I'm pretty sure I love this pairing almost as much, if not MORE, than I love H/D. I prefer Marauder-era to post-Azkaban, but I'll take either. My favorite R/S of all time is, obviously, Shoebox Project, but there are quite a few others that I've read (and written!) that I absolutely love.

Jepha: Jepharee Howard, sexy little bassist. That man is totally SEX on stage, and I could watch videos of him all day long. At the same time, he is so adorably dorktastic, that I can't help but love him immensely. *happy sighs* I feel a little weird about reading fic about Jepha after meeting him, but I'm getting over it, lol.

Winchesters (I know you got this one, but I can't help it, it's THERE in connection with you): haha, WINCHESTERS! Sam and Dean. And John, obvsly, who I love but at the same time wonder if he did the right thing. I mean, I know he did what he thought was right, and there's never been any doubt that he loves his boys and that he loves Mary, but at the same time... idk. Parenting is a hard job, it's unfair to judge someone else's perception of it.

text message: I LOVE MY PHONE. I love text messages, and feeling connected to yall. Some of my favorite stories have been send and/or rcvd via txt msgs. I sometimes worry about texting people, because I don't want to bother anyone or force them to pay attention to me, which is why a select few of you end up bearing the brunt of my text messages. But if you give me an okay, I will totally text you random shit at random times, lol.

baseball: I love baseball. We grew up playing neighborhood baseball all the time, plus going to games at our local minor league team. Some of my best memories are at the old field. When we first got the new field, I didn't like it, but now that I have the kids, I like it more. I'm not too fond of the new management, so we didn't go to too many games last summer, but I'm hoping this season will be better. Also, baseball movies are totally my weakness; I can't pass them up when they're on. Sandlot, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, The Rookie, Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, Angels in the Outfield, Major League, etc...
why_me_why_not: (impala plates)
so, for dinner tonight I made country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes (with gravy!), and garlic toast. With gravy, lol. It was pretty awesome. AND! There are no leftovers, which is even more awesome. :)

[livejournal.com profile] pushingyouaway gave me the used, bobert, kids, bandom and winchesters.

1. The Used: Um, I love The Used? I don't know what it is about that band of dirty boys, but I love them. I have seen them five times since last October, and I would see them again in a heartbeat. Their videos on kyte and youtube crack me up. Jepha is the sweetest thing ever, Bert is tiny and adorkable, Dan is DAN, and Quinn Allman gets me all flustered. His smile is a thing of wonder and never fails to make me happy. also, I love the bit of fandom that revolves around The Used. I have met such awesome awesome people there, and the fic is fantastic. (also also, what I was planning on writing for BBB was TU hsau fic. I think I've decided to go with something else instead though.)

2. Bobert: Oh, Bob Bryar. *hearts* I usually call him "Stevie's Bob" (which is kind of an inside joke btwn me and [livejournal.com profile] snarkyrainbow). Although I totally love Frank, Bob is my second favorite. Or sometimes my first favorite, yall know how I do. I'm super sad that Bob is no longer part of MCR, and I never knew MCR prior to Bob, so this whole thing is sad making. Mainly, I'm worried about Bob because he's been through a lot (with the surgery and the Dixie thing and everything else) and I want him to be happy and taken care of. I'm contenting myself making up stories about either him going to do sound for Patrick Stump's Solo Project or him staying with Brian Schechter and all those tweets about Brian's wife are just code for Bob.

3. Kids: I love kids too, most of the time. I have my two boys, who are awesome when they're behaving and a pain in my ass when they're not. I also have a ton of nieces and nephews, and my family is really big and really close, so we're together a lot. We also regularly pick up other kids, lol. Kids can be a source of some of the funniest shit you've ever heard, and also some of the funniest shit you've ever seen.

4. Bandom: I got into bandom on accident. [livejournal.com profile] wordsindreams asked me to write her Pete/Patrick once (which you can actually find here), and then I kinda wandered into bandom without knowing who anyone was. Then Alli got out of bandom but I was already sucked in, and I was squeeing about it to [livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000. Then Gerard and Lyndsey got married, and I had a fic idea that I told [livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000 I wasn't going to write, and she responded with "That's cool, but if you were going to write it, this is what would happen next." Thus, The Epic Love Story of Brendon and Frank was born. I have met some awesome people through bandom, and I've had some epic adventures traveling to see bandomish bands. I'm kinda sad that bandom (or my corner of it) is drifting into other things, but maybe that'll change if Brendon and Spencer ever get their shit together and give us more music. I know, I know, Brendon's gotta wait until the school term is over, but still. They could give us something, lol.

5. Winchesters: Sam and Dean. :) Oh, and the Impala, she is totally my favorite. I am totally a Dean girl, always have been. I don't like the show as much now as I did back in the first couple seasons, but I still consider myself to be a fan and I watch it. I still don't know how I feel about this sixth season nonsense. I mean, we had always planned on five seasons, right? I already miss the monsters of the week episodes; I personally enjoyed them more than the apocalypse arc. I don't write Winchesters much anymore, other than drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] wendy and sometimes [livejournal.com profile] nasus221, mainly because I used to write a lot with [livejournal.com profile] wearethestars, who is the Dean to my Sam and who is absent from the internet now, but I do have this epic crossover fic I'd love to write. There are bits and pieces of it in several places, and it's probably something I'm gonna end up just spamming people with in email.
why_me_why_not: (awesome)
So, I decided against making an actual mommy/auntie filter for now. That may change after Illy is born, but for now yall can read if your interested and skip if you're not.

1. Ronnie is on an 'action plan' to put more effort into his schoolwork (yall know what a hard time I've had with him ALWAYS), but now, because he's getting extra attention for it, Davey is failing stuff ON PURPOSE so he gets that extra attention to. Parenting fail, wtf. I'm not quite sure what to do.

2. work!Amy is in IL for the weekend - her hubby graduates from Navy boot camp tomorrow - and Robbie is in Atlanta for the weekend for some video game thingy and Brittany is off tomorrow, so it's just gonna be me and work!Heather. Here's hoping for a quiet Friday. :)

3. Baby shower on Saturday. I apparently have one more prize than I do games lined up; anyone have a suggestion for a good baby shower game?

4. Somehow, I find that I'm going to be head coach for the boys' soccer team? idek. It's only one hour, twice a week, starting next week and going through the end of May, but still. I'm not sure how this happened or how I feel about it.

5. [livejournal.com profile] wendy posted a picture of this rainbow wedding dress from this rainbow wedding and I'm kinda in love with it.

6. [livejournal.com profile] starflowers wrote Bob/William fic: Prettier Than All The Rest

7. [livejournal.com profile] gelsey is doing hp rarepair drabble challenges for her flist. The challenge from last Friday is:
~ Severus Snape / Ginny Weasley
~ "One's first love is always perfect until one meets one's second love." Elizabeth Aston
~ doppelganger, repeat
~ portion, attempt, gaze
~ Pretty When You Cry by VAST
~ Janie's Got a Gun by Aerosmith

8. [livejournal.com profile] apiphile wrote A Guide to Mentally-Ill Thought Processes and also linked this post about "getting help" by [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling. I highly recommend both of them to every single one of you.

9. last night, [livejournal.com profile] ashlein made a post asking for Draco/Neville recs, and I was like "Hey, I wrote that once!" But then I had to find it, and apparently I never actually linked it from my personal LJ after reveals were done at hpslashnotsmut last year? idk. But here it is.

From [livejournal.com profile] eckerlilas:

you are pink

Your dominant hue is red... you are passionate, energetic, and unafraid of life's changes. You're all about getting out and trying something new, even if it means taking risks that other people would be afraid of. Hey, if they're afraid and you're not, more power to you, right?

Your saturation level is low - You stay out of stressful situations and advise others to do the same. You may not be the go-to person when something really needs done, but you know never to blow things out of proportion.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

I can't sleep even though I'm ridiculously tired (sidenote: I've had awesome dreams this past week or so, so sleep isn't my enemy right now. Idk whether to be amazed or worried about what it means for the future.), I have more than a week of LJ to try and catch up on, I owe fic to several people, my phone is still in the other room charging (don't ask why I didn't just bring it out here to charge; that would make too much sense!), and whinewhinewhine! Yeah, I really don't mean to whine. Instead, I'm going to procrastinate! Meme stolen from several people on my flist.

ten things I wish I could say to ten different people on LJ (don't use names):

1. Really, if you're that unhappy, quit fucking whining and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
2. Thank you for being there.
3. I feel worse about wanting to ignore you than actually doing so.
4. I told you this would end badly.
5. I wasn't kidding when I offered to hook you up with a job if you wanted to move here.
6. I always think you're humoring me when you tell me you like what I write.
7. I'm sorry for forcing my friendship on you.
8. Some call it stalking, I call it love.
9. I wish you lived closer b/c our kids would cause so much trouble together.
10. Not everything is about you.

nine things about myself:

1. I still feel awkward starting a conversation with someone I've been friends with for YEARS.
2. I really, really want a tattoo, but I could never get one b/c I hate the idea of a stranger touching me.
3. I sing along with the radio in the car, loudly and very badly, and change the station (or skip to the next track) before the song is over.
4. I honestly don't get why people think they have to be part of a couple to be happy?
5. I love loud four wheel drives, mudbogs, and bonfires.
6. Random facts and pictures amuse the heck out of me.
7. I am never on time to anything, anywhere. EVER.
8. I prefer words to pictures.
9. I'm more comfortable feeling needed than loved.

eight ways to win my heart:

1. do something nice for someone else
2. compliment my kids
3. cook for me :)
4. read to me / sing to me
5. remember the days
6. make me laugh
7. tell me a story (real or not)
8. apparently I'm easy? Or really hard? b/c honestly, if you talk to me, I'm happy. But idk that anyone, other than the two brats sleeping in the next room, would ever have my heart.

seven things that cross my mind a lot:

1. What the flippers?
2. Who you gonna call? WINCHESTERS! (really, it's ridiculous how often I think this)
3. Wait, I'm a grownup? (sometimes, I substitute "soccer mom" for "grown up")
4. Fuck this shit, I'm moving to Texas!
5. I have no idea where we're going to get the money for this.
6. What can I do to help?
7. Who can I txt this to?

six things I do before I fall asleep:

1. check on the boys
2. say my prayers
3. rearrange the pillows a gazillion times
4. check my phone one last time
5. make sure my alarm is set (usually do this more than once. not that it matters b/c I'm still gonna hit snooze a couple times and get up late)
6. this isn't necessarily something I do before I fall asleep, but yall remember that episode of SPN, maybe third season or so, where Sammy is asleep in the backseat of the Impala and Dean wakes him up and Sam has one hand tucked inside his pants? It amused the heck out of me b/c I totally sleep with one hand tucked into my pants. Yeah, idek.

five people who mean a lot:

1. Ronnie
2. Davey
3. Kelly Marie
4. Harley
5. Illiana (whatever, she totally counts as a people even if she isn't technically here yet!)

four things you're wearing right now:

1. black pj pants
2. grey pj top
3. um... pink panties?
4. srsly, yall, I have nothing else on. I've even taken the scrunchie out of my hair and my ring off my finger. Oh, I guess my glasses count though.

three songs that you listen to often:

the Phineas & Ferb theme song
1. The Used's Born to Quit (b/c it's my ringtone right now, and also b/c my ipod shuffle seems to like it?)
2. Restless Heart's Big Dreams in a Small Town
3. Panic's Northern Downpour (whatever, it's one of my happy songs, ok?)
(runner up would be Doobie Brother's Black Water or the Allman Brothers I'm No Angel. fyi.)

two things you want to do before you die:

1. figure out how to follow through / finish things
2. take my kids to visit awesome places / show them there's a whole wide world outside this valley

one confession: I'm afraid that even though I know all the things my ex said (says) about me are bullshit, I'll never actually believe it.

+ Am being super lazy today. Still in my pjs, playing on the internet. I intended to try and pull together one of the three fics I'm working on, but I played LJ catchup instead. Writing on the desktop is hard, even when I'm just typing up what was written in my notebook or compiling what I've emailed to myself. I miss my laptop.

+ Some of yall already knew this, but since my brothers found out yesterday, now I have permission to tell the internet. Harley's pregnant. She's due April 5th. I've known for a couple months now, so I'm over the biggest part of freaking out. I mean, she's sixteen. She was also on birth control and trying to be responsible. And this family was made for babies, so I'm mostly just excited now. She's at a doctor's appt right now having another sonogram, but when she had one done a few weeks ago, they were thinking she's having a girl. Also, I don't like the father, so I keep calling Johnathan the babydaddy.

+ I want to go to Ohio for a weekend in January and work is stupid and won't let us request time off in January yet.

+ I also want to go to visit [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype and [livejournal.com profile] reallythateasy in the spring. So that's what my tax money is going to - a trip to CA and a new laptop.

+ I'm not getting gifts for ANYONE other than my kids for Christmas (b/c I'm horribly horribly broke) but if you'd like a Christmas card, we're working on those this weekend. here is the post where I was asking for addresses, if you missed it.

+ [livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000 wrote me porn this week. Well, technically we cowrote. I need to add that to the list of things I'd like to get posted this weekend.

+ I was telling Tim that I need my BLS recert in a couple months and he suggested the EMT class instead. I had told him that I'd do the EMT class after I got a place of my own again (b/c I was hoping me and the boys would be living out that way, closer to him and the firehouse, by then) but since I don't think I'm moving out now... Anyway, I'm considering it.

+ There are several "all about me" memes going around my flist right now, and I think they're all awesome b/c I love learning things about yall. And I know some of yall are kinda new around my lj and probably want to know things like that about me, but instead of doing one of those actual memes, I'm gonna offer to answer any/all questions you leave in comments. :)

Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter. Then, write 10 things that you love starting with that letter. Post the list in your journal. Give out letters to your commenters in return.

I asked [livejournal.com profile] casualyobsessed for a letter and she said: J. And I want at least one thing for Q. :) *rolls eyes*

The Q thing is because my sister is silly and likes to make fun of me over my love for Quinn Allman. Whatever. Have a picture of Quinn: )

Now, J things!

1. Johnathan This is actually the reason she gave me J, so I would say I love [livejournal.com profile] fangs_up1. Other very-important-persons with J names in my life: my nephew Joseph, Jon & Jessie from my previous workplace, [livejournal.com profile] gelsey, and [livejournal.com profile] itjustsaysnow.

2. J-named people I'm fannish over including: Josh Holloway, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Jon Walker, Jepha Howard, Joe Trohman, Jack-the-Camera-Guy

3. Jokes of the inside variety

4. Jalapenos When i was pregnant with Kelly Marie, I couldn't stand onions and normally I eat them on like everything, so while I was carrying her, I ate jalapenos on everything instead!

5. Jim Butcher Yay Dresden Files!

6. Jericho I really liked this show, and even though I would love to see what happened to the town and the characters I'd grown to love, I was actually pretty happy with how the series ended. I also love that the fans were the ones that made the second season happen.

7. Jaida Jones Aka [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida, co-genius behind the Shoebox Project, coauthor of Havemercy and Shadow Magic, and one of the nicest people I've ever met.

8. Jeeps My ex and I had a 1981 CJ5, and I loved that damn thing. Dirt brown in color, drain holes in the floor so when you got done mudding you could just hose it down inside and out, reliable. By the time we got rid of her, the frame was starting to rust in the middle, the muffler was long gone, and the gas tank was being held on with duct tape and chicken wire.

9. Jesus I don't talk about religion on here, because I believe Faith is a deeply personal thing, but the foundation of my faith is Jesus.

10. JDRF Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. One of [livejournal.com profile] casualyobsessed's good friends has juvenile diabetes, so this is one of our most supported charities.

Know what today is? Today is the official day of the Great American Backyard Campout! I think the kids are gonna go over to Pam & Jay's and campout with their cousins. It's a trial run for when Pam & Jay take all of them camping at Jellystone later this month.

MEME: Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Given to me by the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] gelsey:

[livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000. No explanation necessary.

[livejournal.com profile] alli_everyday puts up with me and sends me awesomely funny pictures to make me smile

I do not like tests, stupid people, and having to tag people for memes.

But I have to tag people, so: [livejournal.com profile] nasus221, [livejournal.com profile] ltlredhairdgirl, [livejournal.com profile] irisgirl12000, [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype, [livejournal.com profile] reallythateasy, [livejournal.com profile] wearethestars, [livejournal.com profile] alli_everyday, & [livejournal.com profile] casualyobsessed -- TAG!

I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] trackscovered, so thank her.
