Okay, so
wendy challenged
anasuede to pick 5 songs that fit your mood right now and explain, and de, in turn, challenges EVERYBODY to do it. I'm a sucker for new music, so I'm gonna do this in the hopes that some of you will too so I can get some!
I've been on an emotional roller coaster lately, and I've been doing way too much thinking about the past, which is a result of the holidays I think.
1. Learn to Be Still by the Eagles [lyrics]
Though the world is torn and shaken / Even if your heart is breakin' / It's waiting for you to awaken / And someday you will / Learn to be still
This entire song just... I can't even tell you. The underlying restlessness and search for something just fits with everything I've been feeling lately.
2. What Might Have Been by Diamond Rio [lyrics]
We can't go back again, there's no use giving in / And there's no way to know / What might have been.
Again, looking back and thinking how different everything would be if the cards had fallen differently in the past.
3. Better Days by Goo Goo Dolls [lyrics]
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings / And desire and love and empty things / Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
A bit of hopefulness, looking ahead, and wishing for better days to come than the ones we've all left behind
4. What We Know Now by Restless Heart [lyrics]
Its easy looking back / But hard to understand / How the years can go so fast / And slip right through your hand
Thinking about how time has flown, and the dreams I once had and how they've changed along the way.
5. Narcolepsy by Third Eye Blind [lyrics]
And theres a demon in my head who starts to play / A nightmare tape loop of what went wrong yesterday / And I hold my breath till its more than I can take / And I close my eyes and dream that I'm awake
Insomnia, staying up worrying about things that I can't change
Bonus: These Are My People by Rodney Adkins [lyrics]
Well the kids that thought they'd run this town aint running much of anything / We're just loving and laughing and busting our asses and we call it all living the dream
This song is a bonus, b/c it fits how I was feeling for most of the weekend, the sense of belonging to something bigger than myself, and I don't explain myself well, ever. Sorry. But this song, even though it's country, is an upbeat one, so it's a differnt tone than the rest of the ones on here.
