Illness & Jello, cwrps, Jared/Jensen, 100 words.
Jared cracked open one eye as the bed sank down with the weight of someone sitting beside him. “There had better be liquor in that Jello,” he said, voice rough from his cold or from disuse. Or both.
“It’s just jello, Jared, not jello shots.”
“That would be awesome, though, Jen. Just thing, a whole bowl of jello shot.”
“Whatever.” Jensen was used to Jared’s semi-feverish ramblings by now. “Think you can manage to sit up and feed yourself?”
Jared probably could, but what was the fun in being sick if he couldn’t have Jensen baby him a little bit?
Kite, bandom, Ryan Ross/Brendon Urie, 100 words.
“Seriously, Brendon, how did you manage this?”
Brendon didn’t answer and did his best to stay still. Actually, he wasn’t sure how he managed it. One minute he was inching his way onto a limb to rescue his nephew’s kite – an awesome nylon jellyfish kite – and the next he was on the ground, a tangle of limbs and branches and kite string. Apparently he’d put on a little weight since the last time he climbed this tree.
Ryan finally liberated Brendon from his prison and helped him to his feet.
“What?” Brendon asked. “You aren’t going to kiss it better?”
Loss, hp, Harry/Viktor, 100 words.
Harry was spending his evening drinking alone in yet another small pub. He was far enough away from home and he was well enough disguised that he didn’t think he had to worry about being recognized. The loss of anything resembling a normal life – even as distorted as his version of “normal” was – was another reason to hate the War.
He looked up when someone set another firewhisky in front of him, ready to tell whoever it was that he didn’t want company, but he stopped when he realized it was Viktor Krum. Maybe he did want company after all.
Rain, bandom, Jon/Ryan (genderswap!Ryan?), 500 words.
Jon watched from the window, cup of coffee in hand, as Brendon dragged Ryan out the front door and into the rain. He didn't think the rain was magical enough to wash away whatever had caused Ryan to wake up a girl, but it wasn't any less likely than anything else they had already tried. They had agreed that if they didn't find a solution by the next morning, they were going to have to call Zack and Pete. Time was flying by, and none of them were really that anxious to make those calls. Besides, watching Brendon trying to coax Ryan into something ridiculous, like dancing in the rain, was always a good time.
Brendon and Ryan both looked like drowned rats by the time they came back inside, but they were both smiling.
“Guess that didn’t work,” Brendon said cheerfully, shaking his head and sending water flying all over the place.
Ryan glared at him, but Jon could tell there wasn’t any real annoyance behind it. “Guess not, Mr. Obvious. I’m going to take a hot shower.”
Brendon’s eyes lit up. “Good idea! You need some help with that?”
Ryan flipped him off and kept going.
“What?” Brendon gave Jon his most innocent look. “Orgasms could totally be the answer!”
Jon tried not to laugh. “Whatever. I’m going to take a nap; I think Spencer is still doing research on the internet.” He shook his head as he watched Brendon bound off in Spencer’s direction.
A little later, Jon was kicked back on his bed, laptop open on his stomach and scrolling through Pete’s latest blog. Pete was enough on his own, but throw in the fan comments and it was guaranteed hours of entertainment. He glanced up when the door opened and Ryan peeked in.
“Can I come in?”
Jon nodded, closing the laptop and setting it aside. He couldn’t help but notice that Ryan was wearing his clothes. Sure, anything that was left in the dryer became communal property so it was Jon’s fault if the others snagged his stuff, but Ryan wasn’t usually one to do it. “What’s up?”
Ryan shrugged, crawling up onto the bed beside Jon. “My clothes don’t fit right anymore.”
Jon scooted over to make room for Ryan to lay beside him. “Aren’t you supposed to be helping Brendon and Spencer find a solution to your little problem?”
“Aren’t you?” Ryan countered. “I think they’ve got it under control. Besides, maybe this is my suggested solution: take a nap and wake up me again.”
Jon stretched out on the bed and threw an arm over Ryan’s belly. “So you’re using me because my bed is the most comfortable in the cabin?”
“No,” Ryan corrected, “I’m using you because you’re the most comfortable to cuddle with. And don’t tell Brendon I said that, because I’m still trying to convince him I’m opposed to cuddles.”
Jon rolled his eyes and pulled Ryan closer to him. He most certainly was not opposed to cuddles.
Sick, hp, Harry/Luna (optional Draco, what?), 500 words.
Harry hated feeling helpless, hated that there was nothing he could do to make Emma feel better. He wasn't even sure what exactly was wrong with her – when this was over, he was going to memorize a book on magical childhood illnesses – and Luna wasn't much help. Most of the diseases she was familiar with were actually fictional, and while she believed in their existence in theory, she didn't believe in them associated with her own child. So she was laying in their bed, holding Emma – which almost made Harry feel worse, knowing that a feverish Emma had only wanted Momma when she had crawled in with them in the wee hours of the morning when she was normally daddy's girl – while Harry engaged in an increasingly hostile Floo conversation with St Mungo’s.
“No, I will not calm down, and I most certainly will not accept a house call from Healer Kittery! I've asked, more than once, for Healer Malfoy. He's the only one I trust.” Harry didn’t want to pull out the Defeater-of-Voldemort card, but he would if that’s what it took to get Draco here.
Things had been strained between them since New Years; apparently Luna was the only one not surprised or freaked out to wake up with a hangover and an extra occupant in their bed. Draco had been long gone before the hangover potion had even kicked in, after apologizing to Luna and without saying a word to Harry.
So Harry hadn’t made an effort to talk to Draco since then, and Luna’s owls had returned without replies. Luna kept saying that Draco just needed time, and Harry was perfectly content to let him take all the time he wanted since that meant that he didn’t have to think about how he felt about the whole situation.
Only now Emma was sick, and there was no bloody way Harry was letting any Healer other than Draco near his daughter.
Finally, the contact at St Mungo’s agreed to contact Healer Malfoy, and it wasn’t too much longer before Draco stumbled from the fireplace.
“Draco, thank Merlin, it’s Emma,” Harry knew he was rambling, but that was mostly panic this time and not a result of the usual flustered state he still found himself in around Draco. He was a bit surprised when Draco wrapped his arms around him.
“Harry, you need to calm down. Emma will be fine, but if she sees you upset she’s going to get upset and it’ll only make everything worse.”
Harry nodded and tried to pull away, but Draco wouldn’t let him.
“And after we get Emma taken care of, I think we need to talk – me and you and Luna.” Draco was still using his no-nonsense doctor voice, the one that dared Harry to argue.
“Yeah, okay,” Harry agreed. “Emma’s in the bedroom with Luna. I’ll show you.”
“I remember the way,” Draco answered with a smirk. Harry was too relieved that he was here to be irritated by it.

Date: 2009-06-19 01:37 am (UTC)My biggest problem is that I have all these ideas for fic, but I'm just not a good enough writer to pull them off. So I just toss that ideas out and hope someone will pick them up. You should read some of the emails I send Melanie, they're like shopping lists of fic I want.
