This was very well said. There are a lot of emotions going on right now, a lot of people feeling different things or dealing with it in different ways. I know for myself, the joking and the RTing done on tumblr was huge in diffusing tension, especially before we knew what the announcement was about. I was scared so it was easier to joke about aliens attacking than dealing with that fear, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It's human nature.
