It's been a Monday. Especially since I was the only one of the five people who work my shift to show up today. And this afternoon my supervisor came to me and said that she had set up for me to take the forklist test later this week, which is all well and good since I've been asking to be taught how to drive the lift for two months now, but I've never been on one other than to move it out of my way (easy forward/reverse kinda thing). So, I'm gonna get certified before I've ever been on one? Makes sense, doesn't it?

And the thought of forklifts made me giggle thinking about a fic I read the other day. I was totally going to rec this over the weekend, but I'm apparently slacking & didn't do a rec post. Hmmm. Anywho, this is just the kind of light, humourous read that most of us need after that finale the other night. So, everyone should go read

I know Dean's not really that shallow, but I can still totally hear some variation of this conversation. *g*

Harry quickly gathered all his belongings and stormed out of the Dursley house for the last time. He was free, even if he was no longer protected. He had barely gotten up the block when he heard noises coming from behind him. When he turned around, he saw that Privett Drive was under attack by Death Eaters. He drew his wand -- the Dursleys may be horrible people, but not as Voldemort and his lot -- and started to head back toward the fray. He was stopped by his godfather, Sirius, who quickly shrank his belongings and whisked him away on a flying motorbike.

He later learned that the protection offered to him by staying with his mother's sister also protected the Dursleys, and that protection failed when he was thrown out. He didn't ask if the Dursleys survived the Death Eater attack; he really didn't care to know. He also learned that it was fitting that his escape from Privett Drive was on the same motorbike that had delivered him there all those many years ago.

Or, you know, he could've just gone to Mrs Figg's house and had cookies and tea and freedom for the rest of the summer until the Order showed up to get him, and then laughed as Dumbledore humiliated Vernon and Petunia in front of the whole neighborhood.
