Okay, so I didn't get as much done today as I hoped. Two soccer games, two tee ball games, a birthday party I didn't know about, dealing with my ex-sis-in-law's stupidity, waiting to be sure Harley didn't turn into a pumpkin, and going searching for the mysterious searchlights. Which were cut off right after we'd narrowed down the location! But I do have more ficlets to share! I have 7 more to write for the actual alphabet meme, then a couple dozen for [livejournal.com profile] reallythateasy.

G is for Godfather, Dresden/Marcone (Dresden) for [livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho. 175 words.

Harry was slipping. After worrying about mostly supernatural dangers for so long, he let a natural one slip under his radar. Even though he could probably stand a few hours of unconsciousness, there were better ways to get it than by being hit with a two-by-four. His first thought when he was regaining consciousness was that if Mouse had been with him, it never would have happened. Which was true, but also was probably less important right now than the fact that his hands were secured behind his back and his mouth was filled with the coppery taste of blood.

“Glad to see you finally decided to join us, Mr. Dresden.”

Harry managed to lift his head enough to get a blurry view of the man standing over him. Blurry was good enough, though; he recognized the voice. And the shoes. The shoes were a dead giveaway.

“Why, John, if you wanted to see me, you should have just called. Although I don’t usually get this kinky without my date at least buying dinner first.”

H is for Horse, Blaise/Hermione (HP) for [livejournal.com profile] gelsey. 275 words.

“C’mon, Hermione,” Blaise coaxed. “It’s not that difficult. Muggles ride horses all the time. Just think of it as a Thestral without wings.”

Hermione most certainly did not want to think of the horse as a Thestral of any sort. Thestrals were hideous and frightening and the last time she rode one hadn’t ended well at all. “Who came up with the brilliant idea that we should ride horses anyway?” she demanded, stepping even further away from the huge beast in front of her. “Why couldn’t we just walk?”

“It’s a long way,” Blaise said. “And the paths aren’t all that even. The horses know their way through every part of the estate, though, so it’ll be quicker and safer.”

Hermione bit her tongue and refrained from pointing out that she wasn’t scared of walking a long way, even through a forest. “Just how large is the estate?” she asked instead.

“Bigger than the combined grounds of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade,” Blaise answered with a shrug. “I’m not exactly certain.” Blaise tightened his hold on the reins in his hand. “Look, if you’d like we could ride together. I’ll make sure you don’t fall. But we have to go; I don’t think it would go over well to have two members of the wedding party show up late.”

Hermione sighed. She really, really preferred to stay close to the ground, but today was a special day. She couldn’t exactly miss Harry’s wedding because she was scared of a silly animal. “Okay,” she finally conceded. “But we ride together.” She let Blaise help her up onto the horse, silently berating Harry for letting Draco plan their wedding.

L is for Loser, Hannah/David Archleta (Hannah Montana) for [livejournal.com profile] phaballa. 325 words.

Miley grabbed Lily’s hand and pulled her behind a Wolverine standup. Lily knew better than to ask, just ducked and shushed and waited for Miley to explain. After a moment, Miley peeked around the edge of their cardboard hiding spot and let out a sigh of relief. “I don’t think he saw us.”

“Who?”

“David Archuleta.” Miley looked around and then made a break for the nearest set of the theater doors, dragging Lily with her.

“This is not the movie we’re here to see!” Lily whispered, ignoring the glares it earned her from the patrons already seated in the dark. She didn’t know what movie it was, but there were guns and explosions on the screen, which was definitely not the type of movie she and Miley saw unless they were with Oliver.

“Why are we hiding from David Archuleta?” Lily whispered as the two of them found seats in the back corner of the room. “He doesn’t know you, right? Well, he knows Hannah but not Miley.”

Miley made that face that meant she’d done something she knew she shouldn’t have. Lily hated that face. “I may have told him the Hannah secret.”

What?!”

Lily rolled her eyes when the man a few rows ahead of them turned to shush them. This was major important!

“Well, it just kinda came out,” Miley said sheepishly. “Then he asked if he could take me dinner or something -- me as in Miley, not Hannah -— and I told him that I already had plans, because I didn’t want to seem like the loser that spends Saturday night without plans, and so here we are. I can’t let him see me or he’ll know that I lied and I really am that loser who doesn’t have plans on a Saturday night.”

“Uh, Miley, you do have plans,” Lily pointed out. “With me.”

Miley waved her hand. “Not important. We need a plan.”

Yeah, Lily needed better friends.

N is for Nostalgia, Bob/Brian (bandom/MCR) for [livejournal.com profile] rilee16. 400 words.

“Do you remember the first time we met?”

Brian jumped, startled at the appearance of Bob in the doorway, and managed to knock over his coffee. Luckily, most of it landed on Brian and not on his laptop.

“Sorry,” Bob said, quickly grabbing the laptop and moving it away as Brian jumped up off the bed. “You didn’t answer when I knocked.”

Brian rolled his eyes and didn’t point out that probably meant that he didn’t company. But it was Bob, and Bob had a key, so it wouldn’t have been a sound argument.

“What’s with the sudden fit of nostalgia?” Brian asked, wiping at the wet spot on his thigh. At least the coffee hadn’t been hot.

“I was just wondering if you remembered.” Bob shrugged. “Because I don’t. I can’t pinpoint the actual first time we met.”

Brian thought about it. He could remember Life Before Bob and Life After Bob, but he didn’t know exactly when that shift had occurred. He shook his head.

“The problem is, Schechter,” Bob said, sitting down on the side of the bed that wasn’t coffee-stained, “there are a lot of firsts I don’t remember sharing with you, and they’re things that should be important. Should be memorable.”

Brian gave up on his jeans and started to unbutton them. He was in his bedroom; there was no reason to sit around in wet clothes. “Like what?”

“Like this,” Bob answered, gesturing at Brian. “You’re about to strip in front of me like it’s no big deal. But I can’t remember the first time I saw you naked.”

Brian hesitated, feeling a little self-conscious, then pushed his jeans down. “But you have seen me naked, more than once, so does it matter?”

Apparently it did, if the look on Bob’s face was any indication. “Do you remember the first time you kissed me?”

“Drunk or sober?” Brian rifled through the clothes basket at the foot of the bed. He was sure there was a pair of sweats in there.

“Either. Both. I don’t know.” Bob sighed, leaning back on the bed. “Tell me one first that you can definitively remember.”

“Wait.” Brian straightened up and studied Bob. “This is really bothering you?”

Yes.”

Brian abandoned his search for pants and sat down beside Bob. “Hey. There are still a lot of firsts we can make memorable.” And Brian would be okay with that.

T is for Trust, Gabe/Patrick (bandom) for [livejournal.com profile] reallythateasy. 100 words.

“Do you trust me?”

Patrick almost laughed, because his instinctive reaction to that was ‘not on your life.’ Well, maybe not. He trusted Gabe when he pushed the limits with his lyrics and his actions on stage. He trusted Gabe to keep his friends secrets to the death. He trusted that if he ever needed anyone, Gabe would be only a phone call away. He would trust Gabe with his life if it came down to it.

But standing at the foot of the bed with that fucking smile and those eyes and a pair of handcuffs? Was something new.

OH LILY. And Miley!! I can't believe you actually wrote that for me!! I am feeling very loved right now. And it was adorable. I can't wait for tomorrow. What will Miley do about the PROM OMG??

[identity profile] why-me-why-not.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
She is going to do that thing she does that NEVER WORKS where she tries to be Miley in one place and Hannah in another AT THE SAME TIME and it is going to end in EPIC DISASTER! WHY DOES SHE STILL THINK SHE CAN PULL THAT OFF?????

I kinda love Lily more than Miley. Have you seen the Lily/Jackson episode?

[identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
No! I haven't seen barely anything. I just saw the JoBros episode tonight (they showed it before JONAS which sucked).

[identity profile] why-me-why-not.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen far too many episodes of Hannah Montana, seriously. And I've had a great time all week mocking the previews for JONAS so I can only imagine how hard it sucked, lol.

You seriously gave me some of the best prompts. But I think I may have told you that already.

[identity profile] reallythateasy.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
You are still awake? And not around? Googletalk still giving you issues?

[identity profile] why-me-why-not.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 06:41 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] gelsey.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
John Marcone FTW!!!!

Hehe. Yay Blaise!

[identity profile] why-me-why-not.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
There was a serious lack of Marcone in this last book. I like how he's a crime lord but he's not really a bad guy, you know?

And I'm pretty sure I've told you my feelings on Blaise before. *g*

[identity profile] gelsey.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I noticed that. It's the first book in quite awhile that didn't have any Marcone. He's bad, but he's not bad, yeah?

Giggles. <3 Blaise.

I really liked my N, it seemed kind of sad, their past together being kind of a blur, but hopeful too.

[identity profile] why-me-why-not.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
thank you! (I'm pretty sure P is yours too, right? I'll probably post those tomorrow.)
