Ah, the joys of moving :P

I talked to [livejournal.com profile] deliciantasy earlier when I had been banned from helping unload the U-haul, b/c my dad is silly & I'm a girl, but the story gets even better from there. *g*

Backing up, I went shopping Friday morning (yes, I was one of those crazy people) and got almost all my Christmas shopping done, and stayed at Mom's for the afternoon so all the presents are wrapped & hidden. All day Saturday I helped my brother's girlfriend pack stuff and move it to their new house using my brother's Jimmy, and we actually got a lot done. My brother and one of his friends helped after work, and by the time we stopped (about 10 or so last night) we had everything except the big furniture moved. So bro's g/f's nana had rented a U-haul for us to use today to move the big stuff. My dad & my other brother were helping, so Kristina and I just had to stay out of the way. Got everything loaded in one trip, brought the U-haul to the new house, backed it right up to the front porch. They unloaded the truck (while I got to hook the computer up & make sure it was working *g*) and we had one couch that we couldn't get into the basement (the basement is big but the stairs are a pain in the ass) so we were gonna take the couch to Goodwill & take the truck back. Easy, right?

Wrong.

The truck is stuck in reverse. Will not go into drive. Call U-haul. The guy can't help us b/c he's not a manager and tells us to call Roadside. So we call them & they send someone out to look at it, but the guy is coming from Christiansburg, which is a good 45 minutes away. He finally gets there and is there like 5 minutes & decides he needs to call a wrecker. Which is also coming from Christiansburg. So the wrecker finally gets there & we have another problem: my brother's new house is on a dead-end street. So after the wrecker driver gets the truck hooked up (which took well over an hour) he had to pull it out of the yard into the street and then back all the way up to the main road. So we had the entire street blocked for nearly two hours. Nice way to introduce yourself to the neighborhood, know what I mean? *g*

Anyways, that was my weekend adventure. I have a sink full of dishes and a pile of laundry calling my name; I'll try to be back on later.

*hugs*

Oh, and I'm sure I'm not the only one still having problems receiving LJ-comment-reply-notifications, but I just want to let everyone know I'm not ignoring you if I don't respond.

First off, if you've been around my flist for a while, you know how much I love [livejournal.com profile] alliwantisanelf. And if you're new here, well, I'll just say [livejournal.com profile] alliwantisanelf rocks my socks. Anywho, one of the reasons I fell in love with her is because of the Unauthorized Biography of Legolas Greenleaf. The record of events has long been archived on the site-that-must-not-be-named, and al has decided to create a community here on LJ for the Unauthorized Biography and she has been posting a chapter a day to [livejournal.com profile] prance_legolas. If you have never read this wonderful account of how al's life changed when she met "the Prance", here is your chance to follow the adventures of al & legolas. If you're an old friend, feel free to read along anyway and reminisce with us as we go.

On to the HP recs:

[livejournal.com profile] deliciantasy has been working on an H/D story that now has four parts. If you haven't been following along, here's your chance to catch up.
Part One -- Done Wrong
Part Two -- Sleep to Dream
Part Three -- Teardrop
Part Four -- Dreams

[livejournal.com profile] deliciantasy also wrote drabbles in exchange for us sending her music. The drabbles can be found here. The third one was for me (b/c she loves me!) and is puppies, so be sure to read & comment, k?

From one of my new flisters -- Afterwards by [livejournal.com profile] nekare.

And two stories I've been following for a while & I'm not sure I sing the praises of enough:

Not Only a Granger by [livejournal.com profile] ferporcel. Summary: Eleven years after the end of the war, Hermione finds herself in a delicate situation when her only son leaves for Hogwarts and threatens her most guarded secret: that he’s not only a Granger, but also a Snape! (the link I've provided is to OWL, but if you are not registered there or are unable to read this there, let me know & I'll get you a link elsewhere to read it.)

Tomorrow's Appeal by [livejournal.com profile] celisnebula. Summary: Neville Longbottom has died, leaving his Muggle wife and young daughter to navigate the strange Wizarding world on their own. (again, I've linked to OWL, but this is archived elsewhere if you need another link.)
