I'm about to head out to a birthday party for my niece (yall feel free to text me and keep me entertained while I'm there *g* The kids are going swimming and I don't want any part of that; I'm just gonna hang out in the party room with my notebook & my cell phone, I think).

I'm at home with a sick kid. Who's not really SICK. He's just coughing b/c he has chronic bronchitis (another thing to thank the ex-dumbass for) and there's nothing I can do about it. He just needs to drink lots of water, remember to cover his mouth, and not get excited. But I had to go get him from school, and my supervisor was all upset about me leaving her and I told her that if Harley will watch Ronnie when she gets off school that I'll come back in about 4 or 4:30. But I really don't want to. But I kinda need too b/c it's awful early in the year to be using up my sick time. Even though I'm the only one in my dept that hasn't missed any time since the first of the year.

Oh, and speaking of Harley, do any of yall know anything about a Degrassi fandom? I'm sure it exists, I'd just like to find it before she does so I know what she's getting into. :P Also, she made me SPN wallpapers for our computers. She's so cute sometimes.

Went out Saturday night and ended up having a good time. We went to Charades to meet Tinsley for drinks since Adele was working there. Met this woman named Julie who was waiting for her girlfriend's flight to get in. (Charades is a hotel bar, actually, at one of the hotels beside the airport, but it's an awesome place). Julie kept buying shots for Tinsley and Kristina and we were talking about all sorts of things. Then we got distracted b/c there was a VMI group staying at the hotel celebrating Scottish culture so there were a bunch of people walking around in kilts and Julie asked one of them if they wore anything underneath them. He said yes, even though they traditionally don't. Then Joey Lynn showed up (yes, my brother's fiancee and his ex-wife, going out together) and she had a few nasty friends with her and embarrassed me just by showing up, especially since the one girl had a tampered ID. But then Joey and Kristina were dancing together and I went to the bathroom and came back to find Kristina slipping dollar bills into Joey's cleavage. So I decided I wasn't gonna go to the Park with them, like we had originally planned, and went to John's with Tinsley instead. Which was fun, card-stealing ghosts and vibrating walls and Josh the Mad Hatter and all.

One last thing for now, I'm cleaning out some old files on my mom's computer and there are some fandom recs on here, so I figured I'd share. It's entirely possibly that I've recced these before, but oh well. Also, I'm not sure when these were accumulated, and some of them have summaries but others don't. Enjoy anyway!

I'm trying wholeheartedly to get back into some kind of spirit, be it holiday or fandom or whatever, just so that I can at least go back to pretending to be happy, but it's a struggle. In the meantime, I think I've become one of those whiny, complaining people that I really don't like, which just makes things all that much worse.

My usual suspects betas are all otherwise occupied, either with real life, or with writing their own fandomy things, or a combination of the two. So, I come begging of my flist... I need a second beta for my Criminal Minds slashfest fic. I don't need someone that knows the fandom, just another set of eyes to go over it for grammar, spelling, punctuation, other mechanics, etc. It was already betad by irisgirl12000, who luckily loves me no matter what, but I prefer to have at least two people read before I post anything that's going to be posted somewhere other than my own LJ. Also, I am going to need betas for my other two slashfest fics, one is HP and the other is and HP/GO crossover. They aren't quite finished, but they're close. Being nonsociable does have its occasional advantages, I guess. Also, if you know me, close doesn't always mean anything b/c I'm very bad with time.

Some of my favorite peoples have been writing up a storm lately, and I feel utterly intimidated by them because they are all so frickin awesome! I can't rec everything that I'd like to, b/c a few of the things I'd love to rec are fics from merry_smutmas and the authors obviously haven't been revealed yet, so that'll have to wait. But I can make other recs in the meantime, and these things are undoubtedly just as awesome. But you don't have to take my word for it... GO READ!
