I know, you're wondering how I can have recs when I have no internet. Simple! I had at least a dozen tabs open of things to come back to when our internet got disconnected, so I still have that stuff! Yay me! And yes, these are mostly friends and I may be biased, but their fics are AWESOME. Read and find out for yourself.

Three Septembers and a January by mizbean
HP fandom, Harry/Draco Harry/Ginny, R, 6000 words
Summary: In September 2002, Harry walks into a pub during a rainstorm and his relationship with Ginny changes forever.
This is so well-constructed and the characterizations are so good. And it's even DH-epilogue-compliant. It's enough to make me fall in love with Harry and Draco all over again.

Sweden, Snow, and Serenity by wook77

Okay, it's no secret that I love wookie. But this story... ever since she first started writing it, I was in love with it. Beautiful imagery, beautiful emotions, and Luna is so Luna. It's a brilliant piece of work and wook deserves lots of love for it.

Okay, my summary was gonna be "Lance gets pregnant!" Seriously. But even though it is mpreg, phaballa makes it about so much more than that. She's a brilliant writer, in case you haven't read any of her work. And I can't say too much about this one b/c I only have the first part of the story up and I need to finish reading it, but I love phaballa's writing style and I love what I've read of this so far and I know I'm gonna love the rest of it as well.

I'm sooo tired and I have a headache, I think from too much sun. I wanna stay up and play, but I don't think I can. I'll make a better update tomorrow, but in short: I had an awesome time at the wedding and I have lots of stuff to talk about on that subject that no one is gonna want to hear so I'll post that behind a cut tomorrow along with pics. One thing, though, is that the bridesmaids (two of my cousins) picked out a song to be played at the reception (after the first dance & father/daugther dance & stepfather/daughter dance & mother/son dance) and it was Bye Bye Bye and I was highly amused, as usually happens when something in RL reminds me of fandom. Didn't get home until nearly midnight and didn't go meet either Tinsley or Crystal like I was supposed to. I did get new shoes today, then I went to my friend's mom's house for a mother's day cookout thing (and i have pics of that too) and we ate and then we made fun of Drew (b/c he fucked up dessert) and so then we roasted marshmallows over the grill to make smores instead. Came home, took a nap, got up to watch the second hour of Survivor & the final vote, and here I am.

So, I've spent my whole evening trying to work my way through slashfest, reading the fandoms I'm familiar with (and comfortable with, b/c there are some pairings I can't read) and being saddened by the lack of commenting going on over there. I bring to you now some of my favorites, in a variety of fandoms. Mostly from slashfest, a few from my flist. There will possibly be more tomorrow, since I have a few more slashfest fics to read and then I can start working on my fanfic-to-be-read list.

I'm trying wholeheartedly to get back into some kind of spirit, be it holiday or fandom or whatever, just so that I can at least go back to pretending to be happy, but it's a struggle. In the meantime, I think I've become one of those whiny, complaining people that I really don't like, which just makes things all that much worse.

My usual suspects betas are all otherwise occupied, either with real life, or with writing their own fandomy things, or a combination of the two. So, I come begging of my flist... I need a second beta for my Criminal Minds slashfest fic. I don't need someone that knows the fandom, just another set of eyes to go over it for grammar, spelling, punctuation, other mechanics, etc. It was already betad by irisgirl12000, who luckily loves me no matter what, but I prefer to have at least two people read before I post anything that's going to be posted somewhere other than my own LJ. Also, I am going to need betas for my other two slashfest fics, one is HP and the other is and HP/GO crossover. They aren't quite finished, but they're close. Being nonsociable does have its occasional advantages, I guess. Also, if you know me, close doesn't always mean anything b/c I'm very bad with time.

Some of my favorite peoples have been writing up a storm lately, and I feel utterly intimidated by them because they are all so frickin awesome! I can't rec everything that I'd like to, b/c a few of the things I'd love to rec are fics from merry_smutmas and the authors obviously haven't been revealed yet, so that'll have to wait. But I can make other recs in the meantime, and these things are undoubtedly just as awesome. But you don't have to take my word for it... GO READ!

Top of the list is notthequiettype, who has posted three fics in the last three days, as well as a hugely awesome slashfest fic that it a must read.

Otherwise, go lurk around her LJ and read some of the fic she's been posting almost daily this month. She's creates magic with words.
