I haven't read much SPN fic lately, but this one I couldn't resist b/c of how much I love everything nekare has written in HP fandom. I'm so so glad I took the time to read this one, b/c it's beautifully written, if a little heartbreaking, and nekare definitely has a way with words as she shows us Sam's progression through his teen years.

Both Jensen and Dean are outrageously narcissistic, and the whole fic is just funny and hot and begs for a sequel. Plus? Jared is an undercover hooker.

Okay, so I'd been meaning to read this since it was posted to slashfest, but didn't have a chance to until Sunday, and I'm so glad I did. It's so intense and beautiful and perfect, and the characterization is believable to me. Two things to note about the author: she hasn't seen S2 of SPN yet, and this is her first SPN fic. So she deserves some praise & encouragement, b/c this is awesome.

I love this because it was my first fanfic. I know it's not the best piece of writing, but it was a huge step for me just to write and post it, and I met some of the most awesome people through it Without it, I would never had gotten involved with The Tauri Archives and the OWLie family there. I also would never have gotten close to ltlredhairdgirl, who is one of my bestest friends, or lilian_cho, or several other of my favorite flisters. I have a lot of happy memories associated with writing and sharing PutP, and I absolutely adore Karissa.

24 Hours - HP - Written in response to the 24-hour challenge. What happened during the 24 hours between the attack on the Potters and Harry being delivered to the Dursleys? [PG] 4300 words

One of the things I love about HP is that there are so many blanks in the story that we can fill in. I loved writing this, and going over all the possibilities of "what if?"

I think the reason I love this is because it came from out of the blue. We were having a comment party and misread_ and I were going back and forth writing lines of fic. We didn't have a fandom in mind, or even a character. We were just using pronouns and general situations. And this is where it ended up.

Tequila & Teethmarks - SPN - Dean just laughed, like this was all some sort of game. Maybe it was. If so, Sam didn't understand the rules, but he was pretty sure he was losing. Wincest, nakedness, boy!kissing, biting [ADULT] 3500 words

The first Wincest I ever wrote. This was after I said I wouldn't write SPN or wincest, and when I could still claim I didn't write smut. But I had had the title in my head for a while, and it was begging for a story, and I think this one turned out rather well.

Reciprocity - Criminal Minds - One night changes the direction of Reid and Morgan's friendship.

This was written for slashfest a few rounds back. It was my first venture into Criminal Minds as a fandom, and I had actually not read any fic up to that point, so it was very exciting to be writing it. I really can't explain it; it's like... when I write in HP or SPN, there are so many other fantastic writers out there and I'm always so intimidated b/c I've read their stuff and I know that there is fic that is so much better than what I can do, so not having anything to compare it to made it... not really easier to write, but maybe less inhibited? I have special love for this fic, even if I'm not doing a very good job explaining why.

And my runner up (b/c De did it, which means I can do it too):
Kisses in the Impala - SPN - wendy actually gave me a prompt that wasn't for porn! I was so surprised that I just had to try and write it. I always love writing for wendy. She always gives the best prompts and also is the most enthusiastic, enabling cheerleader EVER. And this one... I dunno, it was my first try at wee!winchesters, which I think everyone knows I love to write, and it was interesting trying to get the voice right as Dean grew/changed/whatever.

I'm trying wholeheartedly to get back into some kind of spirit, be it holiday or fandom or whatever, just so that I can at least go back to pretending to be happy, but it's a struggle. In the meantime, I think I've become one of those whiny, complaining people that I really don't like, which just makes things all that much worse.

My usual suspects betas are all otherwise occupied, either with real life, or with writing their own fandomy things, or a combination of the two. So, I come begging of my flist... I need a second beta for my Criminal Minds slashfest fic. I don't need someone that knows the fandom, just another set of eyes to go over it for grammar, spelling, punctuation, other mechanics, etc. It was already betad by irisgirl12000, who luckily loves me no matter what, but I prefer to have at least two people read before I post anything that's going to be posted somewhere other than my own LJ. Also, I am going to need betas for my other two slashfest fics, one is HP and the other is and HP/GO crossover. They aren't quite finished, but they're close. Being nonsociable does have its occasional advantages, I guess. Also, if you know me, close doesn't always mean anything b/c I'm very bad with time.

Some of my favorite peoples have been writing up a storm lately, and I feel utterly intimidated by them because they are all so frickin awesome! I can't rec everything that I'd like to, b/c a few of the things I'd love to rec are fics from merry_smutmas and the authors obviously haven't been revealed yet, so that'll have to wait. But I can make other recs in the meantime, and these things are undoubtedly just as awesome. But you don't have to take my word for it... GO READ!

I won't go into my entire day b/c that rant would go on for pages, but I'll tell you that this morning I ran out of gas on my way to put air in one of the tires on the van and the day proceeded to get worse from there. Worst fucking day in a long long time, and I was already feeling kinda blah before that, so I was in a mood. The kind where the littlest thing is either gonna make me go plum off or burst into hysterical tears. And apparently me being in a bad mood depresses everyone at work b/c I'm the one who is always cheerful and happy and trying to get everyone else to smile and have a bit of fun while we're working.

Ohh, and alli_everyday is one of the sweetest people ever and she totally made me smile this evening as well!
