One of my friends, the esteemed [livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho, asked me to let yall know about a challenge that's going on over at [livejournal.com profile] mukashi2. [livejournal.com profile] mukashi2, or Once Upon a Time, is an open community for posting any stories, poetry or art based on a fairy tale, folklore, fable, myth or legend of any culture around the world, and it is open to any fandom or original works.

The challenge is a writers & artists challenge where submissions will be posted during January, and winners will be chosen through voting in Februrary and will receive banners.

Writer's challenge: write ten interconnected drabbles series OR one story revolving around ten words
Artist's challenge: draw ten interconnected "drawbles" series OR one picture revolving around ten words

You also have the option of writing and drawing. For example: [One picture + one drabble] OR [One story + one drawble] OR [Five drabbles + five drawbles]

Use your judgment on what a "drabble" and "drawble" is. The minimum total word count is 500 words.

Examples: (You may decide to go on a different direction, which is fine)
For an interconnected drabbles series, see "D is for Draco," which uses the following words: Draco constellation, drapes, dress robes, dropping things, drunk, dregs, Draught of Peace, drag of cigarette, drip, and dragonfly.

For a drawble, see "Draco and Artemis". Basically, something that you produce in a matter of minutes.

Full submission and challenge rules can be found on the sign-up post on [livejournal.com profile] mukashi2. Any and all questions should be directed to [livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho.

I'm supposed to be writing tonight, and I'm trying, but I'm succeeding more at finding reasons & ways to procrastinate. Go figure. *g*

I heard this song the other day for the first time, even though it's apparently not new, and it made me cry and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's alot like Martina McBride's Concrete Angel song, or John Michael Montgomery's The Little Girl (not so much in content but in the fact that it makes me cry and gives me CHILLS just listening to it), and it's so so sad but it's beautiful. So I have to share. Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll

How about a happy song too? A schmoopy, romantic, country love-song by one of my favorite artists. She's Everything by Brad Paisley

And a Christmas one, too, b/c it's only three weeks away... Christmas in Dixie by Alabama

In the meantime, anyone wanna play a game with me?

christmasy game under the cut )
