HAPPY BIRTHDAY DE!!!

It's anasuede's birthday! Yall probably know that I love de an obscene amount. She's one of the most awesome friends EVER and she writes some of the most amazing porn and angst I have ever read. Everyone should go by and leave her good wishes today. I'll have more to say on the subject letter, but I've gotta go to work now. Love ya, De!!

Told y'all I had more to say on the fact that it's anasuede's birthday! If you've read anything on my journal, I'm sure that you know that I fangirl de a whole whole lot, and that I love her endlessly. She is a fantastic person, a wonderful friend, and much much more. It feels like I've known her forever and a day, but it's only been like a year and a half. In that time, though, she's proved to be an awesome friend. She's been there for me when I needed someone to be, she's listened to me whine and complain about stuff she had no interest in, and she makes my days and my life brighter just by being there. She also gives me confidence in fandom and introduces me to awesome people, so she gets points for that too.

De is such an amazing writer. I love being able to talk about bunnies with her or discuss fic, and I love betaing things for her. She has a way with words that is almost lyrical. (she also plays the guitar and has the sexiest voice ever, but that's not the issue at hand at the moment) She is generally the Queen of Porn and Angst, and she does an awesome job with those. I can't choose which of her fics are my favorites, but if you haven't read anything of hers, you really should. She has stuff from SPN, HP, QaF (okay, so it's a HP/QaF crossover, but it's HOT) that is all fabulous and it can be found HERE. De loves music. She is also the queen of music share. Way back when we were still small fish in the fandom pond, she used to do musicshares like everyday, and now she does them at random (b/c she has a life, apparently, who knew?). And more often than not she includes a song with her fic. I know that notthequiettype and phaballa both posted music mixes for de's birthday, and they definitely have better taste in music than I do because I'm a loser, but I did come up with a dozen songs that make me think of de.

1. Trip Around the Sun by Jimmy Buffett and Martina McBride
I personally love Martina McBride, but I also think this is a good birthday song, even if it is kinda bittersweet. Hear 'em singing Happy Birthday / Better think about the wish I make / This year gone by ain't been a piece of cake / Every day's a revolution / Pull it together and it comes undone / Just one more candle and a trip around the sun So, sweetheart, as the song says, enjoy this ride on your trip around the sun. I know life's been kinda tough on you lately, but it will get better.

2. That's What Friends Are For from The Jungle Book
Because de hates Disney. *g*

3. Pretty When You Cry by VAST
De wrote puppy!fic to this song for me, way way back when fandom was new and shiny.

4. Lovers Spit by Broken Social Scene
De and I used to quote lines from that scene of QaF (the end of ep 308) to each other in comment convos. Yeah, sometimes it seems that my supreme dorkiness rubs off on de,

5. Higher by Creed
I wrote and H/D ficlet to this song for de.

6. Bliss by Rebekah Jordan
Pretty much just because I know she likes that song. And because I bought her a Rebekah Jordan CD... um, sometime.

7. Nightblindness by David Grey
She uploaded this song for me to share with one of my fics. How's that for an awesome beta? Not only does she catch my typos and stuff, but she adds music to go with my words!

8. Better Together by Jack Johnson

9. Days Go By by Keith Urban
De doesn't like country music, but I know for a fact she's listened to Keith Urban. Of course, most of this songs are either schmoopy love songs or sad angsty songs, so this is just a random one that I like.

10. Colorblind by World Without Sundays
I wanted to include a WWS song because they are forever associated with fandom for me, and this is one of my favorites of theirs.

11. Some Girls (Dance With Women) by JC Chasez
I cannot think of Wincon without thinking of this song, and de and wendy and andrea.

12. Somewhere Out There from the American Tail movie
Schmoop alert. This song has special meaning to me anyways because it's one of the songs that was played at my sister's funeral. For a long time I couldn't hear this song without tearing up, and for a long time I also felt that I would never again have friends like her. But that's changed now, and de (and wendy and krystal) are a huge part of that. So, de, remember that no matter where we are and no matter what happens, there is someone out there that loves you and is wishing you all the luck and love and happiness this world has to offer.

Okay, a short while back, wendy said something like "de's drunk three questions into "I Never" because she's done everything." That's not verbatim, but that's the general idea. So, I was trying to think of things that de hasn't done, and thus came up with the idea of "De Never" crack. Of course, because I'm a supreme underachiever, I only wrote one, but how about reading some conversation-only crack about something de hasn't done. Yet.
