Dec. 21st, 2007 04:27 amFunny story: when we got home tonight, there was a message on the machine that just said, "Hey mom, it's me, call me back." and mom didn't know which of my brothers it was and both of their numbers were on the caller id and even after I listened to it I couldn't tell which one it was. It was kinda funny. They do sound almost exactly alike, but when they call me, Tim says "Hey, it's me" and RT says "Hey, it's your brother", so I know the difference then. Still, funny. I decided I'm buying both of them legos for Christmas, even though I said I wasn't buying them anything. I have no idea what I'm getting The Whiny Ass though. I'm getting my kinda-brother Drew a knife, but it's for his birthday and not really for Christmas b/c he turns 18 on the 27th. My kinda-sisters and Pam's husband Jay are getting lottery tickets. I think I spent more on Harley than I did on Haley & Joseph, but don't tell, okay?
We went out to dinner tonight & on the way out we were at the quarter machines & one of them had these silly little beaded bracelets in it and so I got one and it gave me two! So I gave one to Harley, and I didn't think anything about it until just now, but she and I got the same fortunes in our fortune cookies too. How weird is that?
We had our Christmas luncheon yesterday and we had a different caterer than usual and it was really good food; I was quite pleased. I was less pleased that they had scheduled the luncheon to last an hour and it lasted nearly two, b/c I had a crapload of work to do yesterday and I was leaving early to take the boys to the dentist. But we're pretty much caught up now. As of this afternoon, they were thinking we might not have to work Saturday, but we don't know for sure until the 2:00 meeting tomorrow afternoon. We're losing two of our temp-to-hires, one b/c she's incompetent and the other b/c he found a job that'll hire him on full-time with benefits. But that shorts us even more than we already are, and January is our busiest month b/c it's the end of the fiscal year for most of our clients and so they try to use up all their budget money and place huge orders. Plus we have two new, fairly large clients whose programs go live Jan 1st, so it's gonna be interesting. We did, however, steal Landon from one of the other departments, and I'm very happy about that b/c not only is a good worker (that'll give me two out of the six) but he's awesome in that when I get an attitude he gets one right back and no one else does that. It'll kinda help make up for the fact that Momma Crystal and Ross both deserted me. Oh, and Nancy, who is apparently happily settled into her new house up north. She's like walking-distance to the beach and she's loving it, so I can't be too upset that she left, I guess.
Oh, more work-related. They had a "samples shop" yesterday too, where we got free (mostly crappy!) things from old inventory & stuff. I got an awesome thermal blanket that says "battle of the bands" and a "death by chocolate" cookbook. I also got two South Park snowglobes, b/c we had a bunch of those & they were kinda pushing them on everyone. I actually collect snowglobes, even though most of them are in storage with the rest of my life, so I'm gonna put one with those. Idk what I'm gonna do with the other. Didn't really get anything else interesting. But it was nice. I also got a decent bonus. Not really decent in a real-world sense, b/c it's not really much of anything, but it was more than some of the people who've been there longer than I have, so that's something. Plus, y'know, they didn't have to give me anything. Also? One of the owners of our company (our company was started by a couple in their basement 17 years ago, blah blah blah, and now their three sons run it) was giving someone a tour of the facilities today and he (our owner) was in sweatpants, a sweatshirt, tennis shoes, and a baseball cap. I'm all for comfy and casual, but idk if that's the thing to wear to conduct business...
I was shipping christmas presents for the salespeople today so I was at the front ship station, which I hate b/c a million people walk by there and are all smiley and friendly and I have to pretend like I am too, but it's right by the vending machines and one of the IT guys got a candybar & it gave him two so he gave one to me. It was a Mr Goodbar, which I don't really care too much for, but I really just wanted the wrapper. I'm gonna stick it up my bulletin board with my 100 Grand wrapper. There are like three of you on my flist that'll understand that reference.
I have my van back. I forget who I told & who I didn't. I love it muchly, but I'm so freaked out something's gonna go wrong again, I'm kinda babying her. Also, I need to figure out how to move the second row of seats back a little further b/c Ronnie keeps kicking the back of my seat and it irritates the piss out of me.
Okay, it's finally Friday (or will be when I post this) so I hope everyone is ready for an awesome holiday weekend!
ETA: It's like 3:45am and all three of us just woke up at right about the same time for no reason. We share a room, the boys sleeping on the bed and I sleep on the floor, and Ronnie sat up and was like "Oh my gosh!" and there is SNOW outside. Like, an actual accumulation of snow! WTF? Wednesday, it was icing when I left the house for work. By midafternoon that day, it was sunny and almost 70 outside. Thursday was pretty much in the 60s all day. And now there's snow. I just don't get it.
