why_me_why_notI am never, ever gonna get caught up. NEVER! Also, I'm never, ever gonna know everything I need to know about the muscular system before Tuesday night's test.
My workplace is so fucktarded. Okay, so that's not new. But this last week, I came in and half the lights in the warehouse weren't on. I didn't pay much attention, just kinda though that something mechanical had gone wrong, a fuse or something, and that since our maintenance guy Dennis was one of those who were laid off, it wasn't fixed yet. Or maybe it was because we were back to 7 hour days and receiving, the dept where the light switches are, wasn't in yet. And I had missed three days the week before b/c of the funeral and everything, but then I find out that the lights were like that all that time too. And they were like that all week this week. To save electricity. That doesn't sound good.
Also, this week we weren't getting any orders from our oldest and most important client, which was kinda freaking us out, especially since no one could get in touch with our wdmk contacts on the phone or via email. So, Wednesday morning, Toby came to me and Darryl (my mom thinks it's funny that I'm totally not management but still get included in all the important discussions at work) and said that wdmk had apparently let go HALF their workforce and everyone that we've EVER dealt with is GONE so they didn't know how to handle us. We've already lost several big clients (in this economy, marketing is one of the first things to get hit by budget cuts, and that kinda screws us since we're a marketing company) and several others are having difficulties of their own, so I'm not too secure in the future of my job. Oh, and we fucked up a custom order for another very important client a few weeks back. Not looking good.
Thursday, I was scheduled off to go pick up Tinsley from the airport. Tim & I made really good time heading up there, but when we stopped in Manassas to eat, Tinsley called & said their connecting flight was delayed. And it was delayed and delayed and delayed, and then cancelled. But her luggage had been put on another plane (idek; the entire situation was fucked up from the get go) so her luggage made it to DC and she didn't, and my brother and I ended up driving to fucking Newark NJ to pick her and Lacee up. First off, I still don't understand WHY they didn't fly in and out of Roanoke. But I also HATE traffic and we got all up in that shit around DC (I was maybe feeling a little bit sleep-deprived and loopy, b/c I remember saying something to my brother about how I felt sorry for the cars of the people who live in that area, b/c cars aren't made to sit in traffic! They're made to run free on the open road!) and had to drive for extra HOURS on toll roads and Tinsley was texting me every 20 minutes asking if we were there yet. And I had to stay awake b/c it was just me and Tim. On the way back, Tinsley offered to drive for a while, but she lost her glasses somewhere in Ireland so that definitely wasn't happnening. Somewhere about Delaware on the way back, I started my period. And about the time we hit Maryland, the drive was nothing but FOG. Coming through VA was kinda crazy b/c the sky would be all clear and bright and you could see all the stars, and then all of a sudden it was like BAM! The freaky virginia-creeper fog-that-ate-the-town! Couldn't see the road at all, couldn't see ten feet in front of us, it SUCKED. Got back to Salem about twenty minutes after 8 (I'm supposed to be at work at 8), changed clothes, went to work. Got stuck working with Mary (who I absolutely cannot stand!!!) and am going to be working with her indefinitely. SUCKS!
Am feeling super grumpy and irritated lately and am not sure why. But getting fired would totally help with that, I think.
Things aren't all bad, though. How about a happy list?

♥ Tinsley is safely back home! So now she's just a text message away! (Or, she will be once she retrieves her luggage and her cell phone charger, lol!)
♥ My kids are ridiculously adorable and awesome sometimes.
♥aggybird's Greg the Vampire story. (And gossymer for introducing me to them!)
♥ Signs of Spring: opening day for theAvalanche Red Sox is April 9, and opening day at Motor Mile Speedway is next Saturday. Also coming up is the Strawberry Festival, YUM!!
♥ Bagheera brought home a pregnant girlfriend, so we're gonna have kittens.
♥ My van ran like a dream all the way to NJ and back! She is so awesome; I love her!
♥casualyobsessed has a new friend who loves FOB (he was really cute when he said this, too!) and is sweet and is generally much more worthy of my approval than the one she's been talking to for a while. (Also, casualyobsessed broke up with Spencer-the-duck, but the best part of that story was watching fangs_up1 tell it.)
♥ Fast and the Furious next weekend!
