(no subject)
Aug. 7th, 2005 04:44 amI have a mouse in my house. And the fucker ran across my foot while I was changing clothes. Little bastard. Luckily the kids aren't here so I didn't wake them up when I screamed.
If anyone's interested, I had a lovely time tonight, even if I did come home alone. :) We went to a car show, had a late dinner at TGIFridays, and met up with some of his friends at Macado's. (sadly, I'm becoming a regular there) He's gonna go out with me and my friends next weekend (we're celebrating our last bit of time with my good friend Teri-the-mad-squirrel-faerie before she heads off to college; even though she'll only be about half an hour away, I won't go up there to go out. To big a possibility of running into the ex-asshole and his friends)
Speaking of him, though, apparently he saw me or heard about me being out tonight b/c he left me a message wanting to know where his kids were while I was out whoring around. Number one, they're MY kids. Once upon a time, they were OUR kids, but for the last two years, they've been MINE. ALL MINE. He seems to forget that I'm she-who-controls-the-visitation. And he's already on my shit-list for letting the boys watch From Dusk til Dawn. Yeah, I've let my kids watch stuff that's really way too old for them. They've seen the LOTR trilogy and Fast and the Furious (and some other things, but those are the two that come to mind). But my brother brought me movies the other day, my 4yo recognized From Dusk til Dawn and asked if we could watch the "nekkid girls turn into vampires."
It's almost a shame, really, that we have a restraining order. I'd love to bitch him out in person. But, on second thought, I'm going to see his sister later today (it's 4am, my last night/right now/today is all blurred) and she's pretty good at bitching him out as well. Maybe I'll leave it up to her.
My niece, his sister's kid, turns 14 today. Makes me feel old. She was like 6 when I met her, lived with us for about a year after he and I moved in together. And she's been working hard to stay ungrounded just so she can come stay with me, so I'm sure she'll be coming home with me after our little family party.
Ok, enough rambling. On to the interesting stuff.

puterpatty's journal...
I'm sure that anyone who's ever posted fanfiction to Livejournal will know just how great it feels to read comments from other users (and how depressing it can be if no one comments). I also know that I don't review other people's fanfiction half as much as I really ought to. So to make up for that, on Sunday I'm going to try and post a review for every piece of fanfiction I read on Livejournal (and I plan to read a lot). Why not do the same, and let other writers know their efforts are worth it?
Writers, why not take the opportunity to re-post a story you think slipped under people's radars the first time around?
Copy and paste to your own journal if you intend to take part.

To help us with this,
alliwantisanelf has supplied and compiled an incredibly thorough list of things which you can just copy and paste into the comment box if you're not quite sure what to say. Speaking as an author, feedback doesn't have to be a long essay detailing the hidden themes, analyzing the author's prose, and identifying exactly what you liked or what moved you. This isn't English class; this is fanfiction, and it should be fun. While those kinds of reviews are great, so is a simple smiley or "Wonderful!" letting us know you stopped by to read. So go visit al's Fantastic Fanfiction Feedback File, find some stories to read, and feedback. (and it's New & Improved with all the added suggestions! Go add to memories for future reference :) )
