Apr. 17th, 2007 12:07 amI'm still in shock over the Virginia Tech incident. I went to VT for a short time (long story) and I lived in Blacksburg for a while (with my ex) and I have friends that are students there or work there, and I have friends and family that live and work and go to school in Blacksburg. I live half an hour away. I went to Blacksburg on Saturday, taking some things up to my daughter's grave, and campus was all so happy and normal and it's just hard to imagine. And for whatever reason, I just keep thinking how horrible it is that some of the victims probably needed to be flown out to trauma centers (like Roanoke, Charlottesville, Richmond) but that they couldn't fly helicopters b/c of this crazy weather and horribly winds we've been having, and so the ones that were transferred were transported by ambulance down here to Roanoke. I don't know. I still can't put all my feelings into words.
copperbadge, however, did post a poem on his
sam_storyteller LJ that I wanted to share/link. Elegy for April Sixteenth, In Virginia
Now, I'm gonna put on my iPod to drown out the sound of Fraggle Rock, talk to
anasuede and find my happy place. No, not that happy place, you pervs! My fandomy happy place!
