Nov. 10th, 2007 09:37 amMusic for a Saturday: Honey We Lied by The Wading Girl.
I've been meaning to post this for a while, but we all know how easily sidetracked I am. In case it hasn't been glaringly obvious, I've kinda fallen way into the depths of bandom. But really, it's kinda hard not to. And I've found my favorite story in bandom, which is actually an ongoing series and I almost didn't start reading it, but I'm so so glad I did.
The series is Discipline & Punish by
arsenicjade (the link goes to her archive) and it is so amazing. Seriously, I check for updates for this series before I check my own email half the time, especially with my limited computer time lately. It's a prison AU with Mikey & Gerard Way in prison, and then Frank and Bob come into the picture and I could ramble forever about the awesomeness that goes on (which may sound strange considering it's, well, prison), but I don't really want to give anything away.
arsenicjade is an amazing writer (seriously, I could lose days rereading things on her archive) and the story line is so engaging and emotional and I've cried more than once during the course of things and I love her characterizations so much.
I recommend this for everyone on my flist. Well, except for
casualyobsessed,
marauder_lover, and
xo_jodi_xo -- you three aren't allowed. Everyone else -- why aren't you reading? If it's b/c you're not in bandom and have no idea who the boys are? It's okay! B/c it's AU! Believe me, you don't have to know who they are in our universe to love the story. If it's b/c you're one of my het friends? Well, I don't really have an argument for that one b/c it's slash. Um, try it anyway? *g* And if you're not reading b/c it's a wip, well. It's not like the parts leave you hanging, and I am gonna CRY when it finally does become a finished work, I think, so try it? Any other reasons, I'll be happy to try and convince you why should be reading it anyways.
I was telling
ciceronian_00 that I almost didn't read b/c of the titles of the different parts, which are things like "Lemon Bars", "Power Steering", and "Candy Stripe Spider", which are all very cute and appropriate now that I know what's going on, but I should have known better. See, when I actually do attempt to write, I fail at coming up with any sort of title. And I should know better than to judge fic by it's title, b/c there are some things that have catchy, awesome titles but the fic itself is rather shitty, and then there's things like Timmy Has Two Daddies, which I almost never read and which is now my most favorite CW RPS ever. So.
Speaking of that, though,
tjournal posted a new coda to Timmy Has Two Daddies. So. Much. Love.
Um, what else what else?
Everyone in the SPN/CWRPS fandom is aware of
fluffandfold and the fact that claiming starts on Monday? (right,
wendy?) Have yall seen some of the prompts over there? OMG, so cute! I'm behind on SPN, but I'm still pretty sure I'm gonna succumb to the lure of writing domesticity...
promote_spn made a post yesterday about Getting fans of a couple of shows working together to support both shows, and the show they specifically mention is Jericho. If you've been around my LJ for a while, you know that I absolutely love Jericho & that I was ecstatic that the fan campaign to resurrect it worked so well. But I did want to make sure to give yall a chance to check it out.
I promised to post a link to the index for this year's
two_of_us_fic challenge when it got posted, and I'm a little behind (obviously) but here it is. Two of Us Fic Challenge 2007 Index. Go find something to read and enjoy; there is a wide range of fandoms there and a ton of brilliant writers. Ohh, and there's OZ fic. I want that. *marks to read later*
The sign up post for
14valentines is up. 14 Valentines is an awesome thing, and if you're not familiar with it, there's a post HERE explaining it.
Another happy thing for today: I read that
keladry_lupin finished writing the last chapter of She Was Beautiful To Him, which is one of my favorite HP stories EVER (yes, I am a slasher; no, I'm not sure why several of my favorite HP stories are HG/SS stories. But they are. Possibly b/c the authors are fantastic.) If you haven't read it, here's a link to it on OWL/Tauri and on Ashwinder (the last chapter isn't up yet, but it's close enough that you wip-haters can probably start reading without problem, b/c it's like 60K already.
I think I've imposed on yall long enough, yes? I'm off to do some work. LOVE YALL!
