Oct. 19th, 2011 09:32 pmIn the continuing saga of "Ronnie is the most difficult child that ever was", he's been complaining for a while that he can't see the board at school, and week before last he failed his vision screening at school. Now, keep in mind that he does just fine at sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, karate). So we went to the eye doctor today and even though he failed the tests there - not only the letter tests but the color and pattern tests as well - the dr said there was nothing wrong with his eyes, so we have to see a pediatric specialist on Friday, especially since Ronnie has had concussions in the past. There's no reason for his vision to be messed up. Idk if he's faking it because he hates school or wants attention or if there's something wrong in his brain or what, but *sigh*.
The real reason for this post, though, is I NEED YOUR HELP!!
My nephew Storm wants a Beyblade cake for his birthday party next weekend, (I keep wanting to type Bakugan cake, which may be a subconscious thing because I'm probably gonna end up having to figure out how to make one of those for Ronnie's birthday in the beginning of December) None of the usual places Shannon orders cakes from has Beyblade cakes. And I can't really find a decent one online that I can replicate? We talked about making one of the Beyblade battle arena, but idk if I can scoop out the middle of a cake without destroying it. Maybe I can invert a pie pan in the bottom of the cake pan before I pour the batter in so the indention is already there? IDK!!! I need suggestions! Some of you are way more savvy with this baking stuff than I am - can you help me out? (Maybe I just need better searching skills?)
Also, lessons or a tutorial on fondant? Because the one cake I did find was covered in fondant and the only thing I know about fondant is that they use it on Food Network Challenge.
