lilpadfoot16: Congratulations on your OWL award!! I have missed you so much since you went off to school, and I've been worrying about my little sister growing up and being out there in the real world (as real as college life is). I never seem to catch you online, but I am going to one of these days. I love you!

You call and leave me awesome rambly text messages. I can't believe that we haven't been friends forever. mimiheart: I feel really bad when I think about how long it's been since you and I actually talked. I can't even imagine how big K & K & D have gotten. I remember the night Kyle called me and left a message on my answering machine. *g* You have the most awesome kids. Oh, and Kahlan-speak, some of which I have written down in various places because I'm totally gonna use that someday! I hope you and the kids are doing well, other than the spider bite. Love you!

As with yesterday, this is part of the backstory to Just Add Tea but can be read on it's own as well. And I'm pretty sure this one is full of tense problems, so please overlook them.
Harry locked the door of his teashop and turned off the lights before settling into one of the large, comfy chairs. Having a grand opening on Valentine's Day had been a fantastic idea. Not only had he made a decent profit and (hopefully) earned a few customers, but he hadn't thought about Draco at all. Until now, of course, but the evening was always when Draco crept into his thoughts. It was a year ago today that he had left a sleeping Draco and gone off to defeat Tom Riddle -- Harry refused to even think about him as Voldemort, or as any type of Lord; he was nothing but a cowardly, psychotic half-blood who ruined the lives of decent wizards even after his death -- before disappearing from the wizarding world, and from Britain all together.
He had had no other choice. He knew that then and he knew it now. It didn't make the nights any easier though. He had no contacts left in his old life. The only ones he would have completely trusted were dead, and it was too risky to maintain contact with any of the others. He did have Fawkes, though, and he was sure that he would know when Lucius Malfoy was dead. Until then, he'd stay away.
He hadn't wanted to make the deal, but he had been forced into it. Tom Riddle was no more, and Draco was alive. Now if Harry could just forget about him...
Harry sighed and stood up to head back to his apartment. "Happy Valentine's Day to me, I guess."
Recipe of the Day:
Honey Oatmeal Pie
1 unbaked 9-in pie crust
1/3 c honey
1/3 c butter
2/3 c sugar
2 eggs
1 cup dry oatmeal
1/4 tsp salt
In a medium bowl, combine the honey, butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat very well. Add the oatmeal and salt. Mix again. Turn the filling into the pie crust. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes. It should be sort of solid when you give it a good shake on the oven rack. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool some. Serve warm (or rewarmed in the microwave) with ice cream or whipped topping.
This is an old fashioned southern recipe that resembles pecan pie, although it is much (MUCH!) cheaper to make. Some cooks add coconut to the recipe along with the oatmeal. Half a cup is enough for this recipe. This amount of filling makes a somewhat shallow pie, so there is plenty of room for the coconut and maybe 1/2 cup of raisins too.
