My mother sent me a recipe today for chocolate cake that has coke in it. I haven't tried it.
COKE CAKE
2 cup flour unsifted 1 cup butter 2 beaten eggs 2 cup sugar 3 tbsp of cocoa powder 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup of coke
Combine flour and sugar in mixing bowl. Heat butter, cocoa powder, and coke to boiling. Then pour over flour and sugar mix. Mix thoroughly. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour in to a greased 9 x 13 pan @ 350 degrees. 30 - 35 minutes. Ice while warm (allow to cool from hot to warm)
Frosting
1/2 cup butter 3 tbsp of cocoa powder 1/2 cup coke 1 lb 10X sugar Optional 1 cup of chopped pecans
Heat cocoa powder, butter, and coke to boil. Pour over 1 lb of 10X sugar. Mix well. Add nuts (optional). Spread over cake.
