So, a few of us are having a Word Count Challenge to try and motivate one another to write something, and the first checkpoint is midnight EST. Prize has yet to be determined, and there will probably be a second part of the challenge tomorrow. We're just going by word count, it's not necessary that you actually post what you write. I'm obviously going to have a few hours of non productive time tonight so I'm trying to get ahead before I go out, but I'm failing just a little bit. Part of the problem is that since I'm working on my BBB, I keep looking for sections that I know I've written but that are not actually in my BBB file. I need these things for reference and cannot find them!
But I did find a drabble from a while back, so here. *shares*
"You are an old man, Jepharee," Bert tells him. "Old and grumpy. I'm gonna buy you an old man sweater and some slippers, maybe some viagra so you'll be less grouchy."
Jepha finds it really hard to take Bert seriously when he’s looking at him upside down, feet thrown over the arm of the couch and head hanging over the edge. Jepha doesn't point out that his mom gave him new slippers for Christmas, or that if he wanted an ugly old man sweater he would just steal one from Quinn, or that he definitely doesn't need the viagra. Really, he doesn't think it’s too much to ask that Dan and Quinn take their strangely physical drinking game somewhere other than the table where he has his books spread out, trying to brush up on his Japanese. It seems he forgets most of his words quicker than he learns them.
Bert probably knows what he’s thinking anyway. He’s wearing that smirky little grin that Jepha can admit is pretty endearing, even upside down. He flips off the couch – landing on his feet, like always, because Bert is apparently part cat and also still part gymnast. Jepha doesn't really want to know the wheres or whys behind Bert still practicing those skills.
Bert presses a smacking kiss to Jepha's cheek and whispers, "I still love you even if you are a grumpy old man."
Jepha smiles, even though that’s not a secret at all, and rolls his eyes. "Love you, too."
