why_me_why_notTen things.
1. Tomorrow is BABY DAY for friend!Amy!! I'm super excited! If y'all could send some good thoughts her way in the morning, I'd greatly appreciate it!
2. Relatedly, friend!Amy's hubby (Cliff) comes home next Friday! He's been deployed since last October, except for a two week leave in Feb.
3. Little sister is expecting a new baby in the spring! Little sister is also in her senior year of college and graduates in the spring. Here's hoping baby waits until after Harley finishes her student teaching before making an appearance!
4. I'm not doing Christmas or holiday cards this year. I love doing them, but I am not up to it and don't want to end up feeling guilty for not getting them done or not sending to everyone, so I'm just going with the decision now to skip this year.
5. Davey joined the wrestling team at school.
6. I keep getting called on to help out with PTSA stuff at school because the volunteer coordinator is a mom whose son has been in Davey's class since kindergarten and we've worked together several times. I like it when I feel up to it.
7. I had two whole days last week that were completely headache free. It was great.
8. Sons of Anarchy is killing me. I yell so much at the television. Ughhhhh.
9. Got tix for me and Davey to see Mockingjay on opening night, since Ronnie and I are going to a Hurricanes/Penguins game at the end of the month for Ronnie's bday.
10. This time last year, the kids and I were in the Chicago area. I need to plan another trip.

Date: 2014-11-07 05:53 am (UTC)In the last two years, we've pretty much given up: we were traveling abroad from September through Christmas in 2012 -- so it was virtually impossible for us -- and the world didn't collapse around our shoulders. Last year it seemed silly after our 2012 break. And this year we're traveling again, though only the six weeks up to Christmas.
So, absolutely, anyone who doesn't have a strong impulse to do it (and You Know Who You Are!), you have my blessing for taking this year OFF! (And that'll make it that much easier not to do it, come 2015 and onwards into what budgeteers call the "out years"!)
Seriously, your other activities all add up to plenty of civic, familial and personal Doing It All. No need to all to the Post Office's burdens!
