Rain, rain, go away....
Jan. 18th, 2006 02:58 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
It's been raining for three days. There is now a pond in my yard. Complete with ducks. It's not really that bad, though. It puts me in the mood to listen to rainy songs. *g*
puterpatty loves me!! I usually associate her with the words fantabulous and wonderific, but that doesn't even come close to describing how I feel about her! She is so amazing; I can ask for something & I swear it's like she can see into my mind and produce exactly what I was envisioning! See my new icon? All thanks to her! *snuggles
puterpatty*
I have apparently become one of the guys at work. :P Jeff (not my stepdad Jeff, the Jeff that works in my department) and I talked about sex all afternoon (and the fact that he's in a relationship but had some strange lined up for tonight after work; he claims that it's not out of the bounds of his relationship b/c his girl never said she wanted to be monogamous, but that if he doesn't show up to work tomorrow it's b/c she found out & he skipped town so she won't kill him -- and why it would be okay for me to go out and get some random piece b/c I'm not in a relationship). It was rather amusing actually. Even if I was standing there working while we were talking & his slacker ass was stapling my papers together.
OWL AWARDS!! I'll make a better post later this week about it, but you can go see everything that was nominated and vote Here. Voting is open until Jan 31st, so you have time to read & decide -- links to each of the nominations are provided. What I was nominated for:
Garden of Sun and Tears was nominated in Common Room and for Best Drama.
My untitled McGonagall piece was nominated in Hogwarts: A History.
24 Hours was nominated as Best Challenge and Best Death Scene.
Chocolate Confessions (written by me and
anael) was also nominated in the Best Challenge category.
Picking up the Pieces was nominated in Romance (which totally blows my mind, just to be placed in the same category as
snarkyroxy and
keladry_lupin) and for best original character (*snuggles Karissa*).
Believe was nominated in the snapshot category.
I am so honored to be nominated, especially so much (you have no idea how happy & excited it makes me!), but I honestly wouldn't vote for myself in most, if not all, of these categories. *g* If you go to the Awards page to see who was nominated, I'm sure you'll see some familiar names b/c a lot of the stories and/or authors I've recced. All of the stories that were nominated are fantastic though -- check them out if you haven't done so yet!
puterpatty and
macberly both tagged me to do this meme... and I guess using
puterpatty's method of figuring, that means I get to do nine?
1. When I wash dishes, I take off my ring & my watch and put them in the cabinet. But not always the same one, which is interesting sometimes when I have to go rummaging through them all to find my watch and ring the next morning.
2. I've lived in this town my whole life (minus the years I was with the ex & we lived in B'burg, but that doesn't count) and I can't give directions to my own house.
3. I never wear a coat. Even on the rare occasions that it drops down into the single digits here. I will wear my hoodie, or my fleece camo jacket, but that's it. I can't drive with a coat on and I don't see a point in wearing my coat from the porch to the car, and then from the car to inside work/the store/whatever. I run around work w/o my jacket, usually in short-sleeves, even now, even though it's a warehouse & tends to be colder inside than it is outside.
4. I don't like ice in my drinks. Ice in tea is ok, of course, b/c this is the south and tea = sweetened iced tea, and I like slushy coke, but it has to be where the coke was put in the freezer & partially frozen. I don't like ice. Or watered down drinks. (mixed drinks are a completely different thing though)
5. Going with the mixed drinks thing, I have to have extra salt with my margaritas.
6. I occasionally get what one of my friends calls the "Touch-Me-Nots", where I can't stand to be touched, at all, by anyone. Not even hugs from the kids. I get especially jittery or shaky, and sometimes it turns into a full-blown anxiety attack at just the prospect of being touched.
7. When I eat a meal, I mix all my foods together. Drives most everyone crazy, b/c most everyone I know has to have everything separated and the foods can't touch and they eat one thing at a time. Not me. Gimme a bowl & I'll just pile everything together in it. My brother calls it slop. *g*
8. I lose my shoes on a regular basis. It's more frequent in the warmer weather, when I run around barefoot all the time & take my shoes off as soon as I leave work and stuff, but I lost my good pair of tennis shoes about a month ago b/c I had taken them off at my mom's and went home without them. It took me weeks to figure out where they were.
9. I could say the alphabet forwards and backwards by the time I was 3.

![]() I am one of the most blendable flavours; I go with sweet, I go with sour, I go with bland, I go with anything. I am practical and good company, but have something of a tendency to hang around when I'm not wanted, unaware that my presence is not welcome. What Flavour Are You? |

Date: 2006-01-18 11:24 am (UTC)Your coat habit sounds unhealthy. And I hate wearing shoes too.
...and I'm directionally challenged too *look shifty*
#7: If we ever meet in rl, remind me not to eat while facing you, lol. I'll be screaming, "Sacrilege!11!1" and wrestle your poor bowl of food from destruction.
Did the meme here. Tagging you for a seven songs meme there too ;-)
OWL awards voting: My fandom to-do list just got even longer O.o
Of course, it's also a great excuse to NOT do anything on my rl to-do list :-P

Date: 2006-01-18 04:40 pm (UTC)everyone thinks my coat habit is unhealthy, but you have to take into account the fact that I'm sick far far less than anyone else I know, except for the cough that tends to be chronic & tends to be due more to the dry heat than anything else
Shoes bite. And I can give directions to other places (but with landmarks instead of street names -- good ol' country directions: take a left when you come off the interstate, go down to the Apple Mart and take a right, when you come to the tree in the middle of the road take another right, second duplex on the left is my cousin's house), just not my own house. Maybe it's my subconscious way of keeping visitors away?
LoL -- #7 -- told you most people don't get it!
And my fandom to-do list always rivals my RL to-do list!

X-D My prev. result was also (If you were not Menthol you would be Alcohol.)
And it's true that snake meat tastes like chicken the first time around for me.
Maybe it's my subconscious way of keeping visitors away?
Hhmmm...like my refusal to learn driving a subconscious refusal to be independent? lol. If only the public transit system here's as good as HongKong or Singapore...The landscape and structure of this city probably makes an underground train impossible. Meh.
