Our family plans for this afternoon got cancelled, which is kinda nice b/c it means I can hang around the house and be lazy. The wedding yesterday was so beautiful. I took a disposable camera b/c mom's digital is broken, but when I got there Tinsley gave me her digital and her mom's digital and said I was responsible for pictures, so I took one and our friend Margo took the other, and the boys took pictures with mine. A couple of the ones the boys took turned out really really good, though, so I'll post a few of them later (I took them to one hour photo this morning) and I'll post good pics when I get them from Tinsley. If anyone is interested in all the sappiness, I'll give details about the ceremony and the reception and everything later, too.
The actual reason for this post though is an apology to all my fellow OWLies for being completely absent lately. For the past couple months, staying here with mom, computer time hasn't been what it used to be. I do have the computer in my room now, but I usually don't go up there until after 11 or so. And I've actually had somewhat of a real life lately (incredible as that sounds) so I'm not around as much, and when I am I'm usually laying in front of the computer half dozing and half skimming LJ. And when I do have the time and the mental capabilities to visit the SL, there's nothing for me to do b/c yall are incredibly awesome. Still, I feel really really bad about not being around.
Starting tomorrow, I have a new schedule at work, so I'll be working from 8am to 4:30pm, which is so awesome I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am. But that means I'll have to go to bed earlier (no more of these IM conversations that go on until 4 or 5 am) but it also means that I've got to get the boys on a new schedule, so we're gonna shoot for a 9:00 bedtime, which means I'll have a couple hours in the evening to play during the weeknights. Weekends are kinda busy.
Some of you know that I lost my writing ability temporarily (but I did find it again, in case you didn't get the memo!) and I think part of the problem was that I was thinking too much about ME and my place in fandom and not about fandom as a whole, or at least not about my fandom families. I also think the porn kinda threw me off track. Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't mind writing the porn, but I miss writing plot. Actually, I really miss plotting. The past couple weeks, talking with
swedish15 about Garden, talking with
anael about something she's writing, talking with
pixel_0 about Gather the Flies... that made me feel happier fandom-wise than I've felt in a long time.
I think there might have been some purpose behind me writing all this, but as I ramble (and holler at the kids in the backyard and keep an eye on the peach cobbler in the oven and talk to de on Y!M), I've forgotten what it was. Love and hugs for all of you, and I'll post some drabbles later, yeah?

Date: 2006-08-07 06:35 pm (UTC)I'm still finishing up my first story. I took Harry/Bill, Harry/Snape and Lupin/Snape. :) If you want, I can link you to them when I'm done, or you'll probably see them when I'll post them. :P Btw, Harry/Bill is the one I'm having most fun with, because I've never even thought or read the pairing, so it's a nice challenge. :)

You know...I think you hit the nail right on the head. At least for me. I know I've been feeling the writing/fandom blahs, and well, what you said is so true. I'm thinking more about me in the fandom and where I stand as a writer (am I too much of a gen writer? do I write too much angst? etc. etc.) than just a general, "Hey, I love Sam and Dean! Yay! Let's write!"
And thanks again for all the help on the sociopath story. We had chocolate cake tonight for dinner. I think you totally deserve a piece for all your help. :)

Date: 2006-08-07 11:12 am (UTC)Lol -- I was whining all last week about losing it, but then I did a meme on Friday or Saturday (one of the email-type ones) and I put something in there about finding it. Obviously, I didn't send that meme email out to everyone. But I did find it and I'm so so happy!

Exactly!! That's exactly it! I got into fanfic b/c I love the characters and I love the universes, and somewhere along the way I lost that. I think "Hey, I love Sam and Dean! Yay! Let's write!" should be my new motto. (Although it may be something like "I love Sam and Dean and Jess and Harry and Draco and Ron and Pansy and my Karissa..." *g*)

Mmmm! Chocolate cake! Thanks! And no problem; you know I love your stuff anyways, and being able to share an intelligent discussion with you over the plot/details/whatever of your story really helped me figure out what was missing from my fandom experience.
