Sorry about last night. I'm feeling loads better today. To all of you that left me *hugs* and such -- I love you and appreciate it more than you'll ever know. I feel like an idiot for acting like that, though, so next time, someone just smack the hell out of me, k?

The boys and I walked up to East Hill Cemetary this afternoon, b/c I'm strange and think there's something peaceful about the place. There's also something about the sense of being surrounded by history there. In the center of East Hill Cemetary is where General Andrew Lewis was buried in 1781. His grave marker is inscribed:

GENERAL ANDREW LEWIS
1716 – 1781
Pioneer Patriot
Hero of the battle of Point Pleasant, Which was the most closely contested of any battle ever fought with the Northwestern Indians. Was the opening act in the drama where of the closing scene was play at Yorktown.

In one corner of the cemetary, there are three dozen unmarked graves, rows and rows with white stones that say "Unknown CSA Soldier". There is also a plague that was put up but the Daughters of the Confederacy with a listing of the CSA soldiers that died during the winter camps in Salem in 1863-1864, soldiers that might possibly be buried there. I dunno, I just wonder a lot about what those soldier's lives were like, you know? I've got some excellent Civil War books in my collection; I think I may dust a few off this weekend and pick one to reread.

There's a special marker / site a few miles up the road where the Battle of Hanging Rock took place; I told the boys we'd go up there tomorrow and walk around.

Ronnie wants us to walk up to the car show tonight, since I cancelled my plans with my friends. I'm totally not feeling the going out thing tonight, even if someone else is buying the drinks. We may go up there, I don't know yet. Depends on how I feel. They usually don't get a full lot until about 8 or 9, but Ronnie loves to go look at the cars & point out which ones he knows & talk to people & stuff. Five years old & already a car fanatic. *rolls eyes* I think we've created a monster.

I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] dove95 the other night about music, b/c I stole some excellent music from her, so this is for her, but I'm putting it up here so anyone else can steal it too. Rebekah Jordan's cover of Dreams

And another song, country this time, b/c I can't resist. *g* I love this song, loved the original too, but I really like Shooter Jennings. I've Always Been Crazy (But It's Kept Me From Going Insane)
