(no subject)

Things for a Thursday! (it's officially midnight here!)

1. I'm turning into a lizard! I'm all peely and itchy and BLECH!!! stupid sunburn. I'm afraid to scratch, especially on my back where I can't see, but oh my goodness the itch is driving me mad!

2. I've got my new blackberry and am working on setting it up. However, it has the old software on it, and for as much as I've complained about the new software since I got that upgrade in February, I'm not sure I remember how the old software works! Yes, I know, I'm never satisfied, lol.

3. Anyone in the Dallas area interested in a NKOTBSB ticket? I was supposed to go with wendy and phaballa to see NKOTB and BSB on Sunday June 26, but given current circumstances I'm not going to make it to Texas. :( If anyone is interested, let one of us know? Ticket's been claimed.

4. Penny, the more friendly of our two rats, has started expecting me to take her out of the cage and let her hang out with me in the mornings. Seriously, she'll just sit on my chest and eat sunflower seeds while we're watching cartoons, and she whines if I don't let her. She's as spoiled as the kids! (also, when I put the rats in their balls to run around, Illy goes after them - she's gonna end up giving them shaken rat syndrome or something!)

5. wendy is the library mom! (that totally made my day, and while she's been the "cruise director" for years now, I think I'm gonna have to change it)

6. itchy itchy itchy! did I mention my skin is itchy?

7. Got a letter today from a chaplain in Afghanistan that we had sent a box of school supplies to a couple months ago, which totally made the boys' day. They had picked out a handful of postcards to send to some of the servicemen when we were at the beach this weekend. I don't think I mentioned this, but my "official" adoptees are all back home, which is good for me because I obviously can't do care packages right now, but we're still doing letters/cards on a weekly basis for one of the support teams.

8. have been having crazy nightmarish dreams again since we came home. ugh.

apiphile writes excellent poetry - the second one in this post is one that I love but can't explain why - and each April (National Poetry Month) since 2009 she has used this as an excuse to do a little more to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières, writing one poem a day for the whole month, and asking those who read them to donate one pound/dollar per poem to the charity. She has put together a book that is a collection of three years’ worth of sponsored poetry, and as is appropriate, all profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières in order to help them keep on helping others.
