I'm trying wholeheartedly to get back into some kind of spirit, be it holiday or fandom or whatever, just so that I can at least go back to pretending to be happy, but it's a struggle. In the meantime, I think I've become one of those whiny, complaining people that I really don't like, which just makes things all that much worse.

My usual suspects betas are all otherwise occupied, either with real life, or with writing their own fandomy things, or a combination of the two. So, I come begging of my flist... I need a second beta for my Criminal Minds slashfest fic. I don't need someone that knows the fandom, just another set of eyes to go over it for grammar, spelling, punctuation, other mechanics, etc. It was already betad by irisgirl12000, who luckily loves me no matter what, but I prefer to have at least two people read before I post anything that's going to be posted somewhere other than my own LJ. Also, I am going to need betas for my other two slashfest fics, one is HP and the other is and HP/GO crossover. They aren't quite finished, but they're close. Being nonsociable does have its occasional advantages, I guess. Also, if you know me, close doesn't always mean anything b/c I'm very bad with time.

Some of my favorite peoples have been writing up a storm lately, and I feel utterly intimidated by them because they are all so frickin awesome! I can't rec everything that I'd like to, b/c a few of the things I'd love to rec are fics from merry_smutmas and the authors obviously haven't been revealed yet, so that'll have to wait. But I can make other recs in the meantime, and these things are undoubtedly just as awesome. But you don't have to take my word for it... GO READ!

Top of the list is notthequiettype, who has posted three fics in the last three days, as well as a hugely awesome slashfest fic that it a must read.

Warnings: Incesty-ness, horror movie-like gore, and do I need to warn it's dark? It is the Apocalypse after all.
Summary: from the prompt: Dean and Sam are part of the few who have survived the Apocalypse.

When I started this post, I wanted to rec something by wook77, but I can't decide what. By now, all you HP fans should have read her Dean/Seamus slashfest Wish Long and Long, but if you haven't, go do it! The imagery in that fic is so amazing. Otherwise, go lurk around her LJ and read some of the fic she's been posting almost daily this month. She's creates magic with words.

There are a couple other things that I want so badly to rec, but I can't yet. Boo. Here's one more SPN rec.

awesome. I'm having problems with the hp/go b/c I can't get it to turn into actual slash. It's like friendship fic, pre-slash if you turn your head sideways and squint, and it doesn't want to go anywhere else. it's frustrating.

Actually, they're due like friday. But i begged for an extension. Maybe we can talk about it sometime this weekend?
