The first thing Brian noticed when he walked into the loft was that it wasn't empty. It should be. He had talked to Justin before he left Kinnetic and he was still in New York. Brian wondered if he should be worried, but then he saw a pair of sneakered feet propped up on the edge of his expensive coffee table and recognized his company. Micheal and Ben's reformed street urchin.
"What are you doing here, Hunter?" Brian tossed out, dropping his keys on the counter and grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Thought you might like the company," came the smartass reply. "Seeing as how your wife left town."
"If I need company, I can find my own." He walked across the loft, knocked Hunter's feet off the coffee table, and dropped down on the couch. "And it wouldn't be jailbait."
"But it wouldn't be as good as me," Hunter said with a smirk.
"I'll take your word for it." The flirting was more pretense and habit than anything else after everything that had happened, but it was a comfortable reminder that not everything had changed. Brian, self-admitted egotist that he was, congratulated himself on being able to speak the same language as The Littlest Hustler. "Shouldn't you be at home with your parents?"
"Nah, Ben's got a class tonight and Deb dragged Michael off to help... do something, I wasn't listening. So," he propped his feet back up on the table and grinned at Brian, "you buying me dinner first?"

I'm not really happy at Kent, and I think the reason I did so poorly was because I was too worried about seeing people from high school and having to possibly talk to them. I'm hoping I'll do better. If not, then who the hell knows what I'll do.
