♥ I dreamed of Quidditch last night. Not naked Quidditch (although there were sexual favors involved AFTER). But still, QUIDDITCH! Don't be surprised if you end up with HP-related texts this week,
irisgirl12000 and
reallythateasy.
♥ The reason I dreamed of Quidditch is most likely b/c I read
harriet_vane's Brendon Urie and the Muggle That Wasn't last night before bed.

Date: 2009-02-02 04:44 am (UTC)Zack knew that Shaun loved him, loved Cody and the family they were creating and a bunch of little things about their lives, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t worried that it would get to be too much. That one day, Shaun would realize they were too much trouble or effort, that he really wasn’t ready to be a parental figure to a kid that wasn’t his.
Zach was pretty sure they had reached that point the night that Cody stumbled into their bedroom, rubbing his eyes and trailing the blanket from his bed around him like a cape. Zach woke up as soon as he heard the door squeak open, before the first slant of light from the hallway even hit the bed. “What’s wrong, buddy?”
“Uncle Zach, I don’t feel good.”
Cody didn’t look that well, either, so Zach slipped out of bed and scooped him up, wrapping the blanket around him. He took a moment to be thankful he had put his boxers back on – he and Shaun were pretty good about not sleeping naked since Cody was only one room over, but not always – and then forced himself to push aside his panic at how hot Cody was in his arms. He carefully pulled the bedroom door shut behind him as he left the room and headed for the kitchen.
He set Cody down on the counter and kept one hand on him as he reached around to the cabinets, pulling out the children’s Tylenol and a cup. He knew there was apple juice in the fridge – Cody’s favorite – but getting it would mean letting go of Cody and he really didn’t want to do that, so he filled the cup halfway with water from the tap. He was struggling with the Tylenol package – fucking plastic had grooves in it that didn’t actually tear; damn things were a bitch to open without crushing the tablets to pieces – when he heard the fridge open.
“Oh, hey.” He glanced over his shoulder at Shaun; he hadn’t even heard him come in. “Sorry, Cody’s sick.”
“Yeah, I got that.” Shaun said, the traces of sleep still evident around the edges of his voice as he walked up behind Zach and set the bottle of apple juice on the counter beside Cody. “What’s wrong, little guy?”
“My head and my tummy hurt.” Cody’s eyes were bright and watery, but Zach didn’t know if that was from the fever or from the impending onset of tears. He took the tablets Zach had finally freed from their plastic prison and chewed them carefully, emptying the cup of water to wash them down.
“He was acting a little funny this afternoon,” Zach told Shaun as he watched him refill the cup with juice. “Just more tired than usual, but I still should have noticed. I’m gonna go lay down with him for a little while, until he gets back to sleep.”
Shaun handed Cody the cup with an affectionate smile. “No, just bring him to our bed. We can turn some cartoons on.”
Zach picked Cody back up while Shaun filled the cup back up to take with them and put the juice away.
A little while later, laying in bed with Cody sleeping restlessly between them and Spongebob playing in the background, Shaun reached over and took Zach’s hand. “You know, I knew what I was getting into with you. I don’t expect you to handle Cody all by yourself, even when he’s sick. Especially when he’s sick. The two of you aren’t going anywhere.”
Zach let the fuzzy feeling warm him up inside and tried to hide his smile as he grumbled, “I wasn’t thinking anything like that.”
