Okay, I'm getting ready to go to bed. Text me if you want me. :)

Harry had long since traded his glasses for Muggle contacts, hiding his trademark green eyes for a deep brown, and he kept his hair just shaggy enough to cover the faint scar that remained on his forehead. It was usually enough to keep him from being recognized on the few occasions he did venture out of seclusion, especially if he didn't shave for a few days prior. In fact, on most of his journeys into town, the only person who spoke to him was the wizard outside of the new wand shop. There was something familiar about his presence, but Harry never saw his face. He kept his hood pulled up around him and looked away when he spoke. The only clear image of him in Harry's mind was the golden snitch tattoo on his hand. As much as Harry liked his solitude, the escape from attention, he was more intrigued by this mystery person who knew his name but wouldn't reveal his own. It was an incentive to head into Diagon Alley more often.

Everyone knows that Nick's is neutral territory. It's not protected by the Unseelie Accords, but it's understood just the same. It's a good thing for Nick, since he's friendly with damn near everyone and the last thing he needs is his friends ruining his investments by trashing his bar. It's not always such a good thing for Tom.
He hates to see William work the room like he's walking a runway, hates the way Carden parades around with his not-so-subtle smirks at Tom and the vague not-quite-threats directed at Tom's pack. But he's actually glad they're here tonight, when he and Sean stumble in to reclaim Ryan. He wants them to see, to know that Tom's found another pack, one that fits, and Tom's proud of who they are together, what they do. William can keep his arrogance and alpha status, and Carden can keep William's affection. Tom's found something better.

Tom's in high spirits when Sean, Ryan, Max, and Al meet him at work, excited about the four day weekend. He's all for spending the evening drinking at Nick's, but when they're a few blocks away from the bar, he's hit with a subtle feeling of growing apprehension. By the time they're close enough to see the flashing lights, the smoke, and the chaos, Tom's already pretty close to freaking out.
He sees Nick standing in front of the bar, looking shocked and defeated as he talks to a fire chief and a couple other official-looking people, but it's not Nick he's worried about.
There's a familiar head of curly hair peeking out from around the side of one of the ambulances and Tom takes off through the crowd, ignoring his boys when they call after him. He doesn't think about it not being his place, about Sisky no longer being pack, just runs into him with a push that turns into a hug. It's strange, hugging someone who's not one of his own, but even though Sisky's no longer his, he's still a friend.
Sisky clings back tightly, and Tom can only imagine how freaked out he is, with Butcher lying motionless and bloody on the stretcher in the back of the bus. Tom knows head wounds always bleed a lot and look worse than they are, and he can see Butcher's chest rising and falling, but it's still far from a calm situation.
"Where's William?" Tom asks quietly.
"New York." Sisky's answer is muffled since he's pretty much talking around a mouthful of Tom's shirt. "Couple of Gabe's kids, Nate and Victoria, are getting married."
Tom nods, wonders how fast William'll find his way home. "Want me to come sit with you at the hospital?"
"Us," Tom hears from behind him. "If you go, I'm coming with you."
Tom turns around to look at Max. He doesn't want there to be drama, doesn't want to have to explain anything in the face of jealousy, but Max's look surprises him. He doesn't seem to be jealous or possessive or anything other than supportive. Tom nods. Actually, he'll probably feel more comfortable with one of his guys there, especially when William or Carden shows up.
