This week's [community profile] thefridayfive (just a little late; it was a crazy weekend)

1. What is your favourite food? Potatoes, lol. Any kind of potato - mashed, fried, chips, etc.

2. What is your favourite food preparation method? Depends. Sometimes I crave food from the grill. Sometimes I just want something I don't have to prepare myself. But I love cooking and creating, especially trying new recipes and including my family.

3. What is your favourite cuisine or style of cooking? Um. American, I guess? I like Southern style everything, and I like Mexican and Italian, but I've heard that the Mexican and Italian that we have here has been Americanized, so. I really just like food, so.

4. Do you have any dietary restrictions and if so what are they? Nope. I probably should though, because I could stand to lose a few pounds and bring some of my numbers down!

5. If you could introduce the whole world to one ingredient to improve their culinary experience, what would that be and why? Hmm. A lot of the things I cook with, most people around here are already familiar with. And I know that other countries and cultures are kinda baffled by some of our food. Garlic and Worcestershire, maybe? Just because I use them alot. Ramps, which are related to onions but have a different taste.

Teenagers are still the worst. One of them is trying to convince me to let her throw her birthday party at my house because it'd be more fun than at her house with her dad. Um, no.

Since the Children and Youth Coordinator stepped down at church (was asked to step down), I've accidentally taken over again. I don't have to plan Sunday School lessons for the Senior Highs, but I will have to plan for the Junior Highs, at least for the next couple of months. I'm trying to get my Aunt Lori to take them over. I also have to plan for Youth Wednesdays, but since it's almost September already, I can make several of those practice for Youth Sunday in November and for our Christmas program. The biggest issue is going to be coordinating chaperones, which is always an adventure, and communicating with parents. We have a designated Youth Group Facebook Group/Page, I send out emails, text, and IMs, I send home paper info with the kids, our activities are on our weekly announcements at church and on the calendar and in the monthly bulletin, and yet without fail, there is at least one parent who tells me on the day of an activity that they knew nothing about it. Urghhhh.

My kids don't go back to school until next week (after Labor Day), and I am so ready for it. We need to be back in a routine. Things are always crazy, but at least when school is in session we have a little bit of a schedule. We'll see how it works.
