Jul. 18th, 2010 02:54 amMom & I took Ronnie, Davey, & Joseph to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and I was absolutely delighted by it! Non-spoilery type reaction: the effects were good, the humor was balanced enough that the kids and the adults were all entertained, I love (and want) the soundtrack, and Balthazar was very Dresden-esque. I enjoyed it, and will definitely go see it again if it hits the drive in this summer.
Since I'm reminded of Dresden, I do feel like I need to say that one of the things I love most about Dresden is that he is noticeably flawed. Idk if I've said that before, and I know only a handful of you are into The Dresden Files. But I love that even though Dresden is a hero, he doesn't always win, and sometimes he lets his emotions influence him into making wrong decisions, and he's not superhuman - he's been injured physically and mentally and emotionally. I know I haven't made a post about the most recent book, but I do have a lot of thoughts about it, especially about Maggie and Molly and Thomas and the stupid end to that stupid book. (Although Jim Butcher said on twitter that it doesn't count as a cliffhanger if he knows what happens next. Damn authors!)
Okay, we're gonna get Harley & the baby and go have breakfast for dinner, then I gotta make sure Davey is all packed and ready for camp b/c I have to drop him off tomorrow afternoon. Joseph is staying the night, and I'm pretty sure they've got plans to watch Transformers as soon as we get home. Me, on the other hand, I plan on talking
irisgirl12000 into telling me more of the story we were talking about last night and maybe working on a story of my own.
Love yall! Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!

Apr. 20th, 2010 12:04 amI'm feeling better than I was, but I'm still not 100%. I can breathe, at least, even though there's a whining/ wheezey quality to it, and work!Amy brought me soup from Panera at lunch today. Also.... uh, I forgot what the "also" was. Whatever.
I'm never going to get caught up on LJ, but I'm determined to try, lol. In the meantime, how about this? We all have our pieces of personal canon for different fandoms, right? One of mine, that I'm sure everyone knows, is "Jason Gideon and John Winchester are/were friends. Or at least know one another." So, I'm gonna tell yall a few bits of MY personal canon, from different 'verses/fandoms/whatever, and yall tell me some of yours. Okay? Okay.
1. Molly Carpenter has a grasshopper tattoo.
2. Dean Winchester never lets anyone else work on the Impala, and he would even give up PIE if it meant he could get top-quality parts for her.
3. Spencer Reid was a virgin until well after he joined the BAU.
4. Despite the fact they were pretty fucking evil, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy love Draco more than anything.
5. Caius Greylace will pester the shit out of Alcibiades until one day Alcibiades wakes up and realizes he's completely, totally in love with Caius.
6. Fred Weasley - a ghost, of course - divides his time between terrorizing his brother at the shop (he may be dead, but he still has a say in what's going on!) and causing mischief at Hogwarts (his mischief is NEVER managed, and Professor McGonagall won't admit she rather likes having him around; the years of the Wars took a toll on the school and the laughter and good-natured pranks help strengthen the magic there.)
7. Brian and Justin will eventually end up together, but they were never meant to be married.
8. Shawn will never find a girlfriend that means more to him than Gus does.
9. Gabe is totally going to take credit for Sean and Zach finally getting their shit together and hooking back up.
10. A good portion of the people that Dean and Sam save have an underground support network, kinda like the Paranet.
And look! I managed to not use any real persons in my personal canon! That doesn't mean you have to refrain, though. I mean, it's also part of my personal canon that Sisky and the Butcher are so married that no one even acknowledges it anymore, so whatever.
SHARE WITH ME! :)

Nov. 15th, 2009 09:50 pmThis actually needs to be its own 'verse. So consider this the first part and I may come back to write more later?
Title: International Werewolf Relations
Fandom: Harry Potter/The Dresden Files
Characters/Pairings: Harry/Draco, Billy/Georgia, Teddy Lupin
Rating: suitable for Everyone
Word Count: 1427 words
Disclaimer: I own nothing of either the Wizarding world of JKR or the supernatural world of Jim Butcher. Written in fun.
Summary: Harry and Draco take Teddy to Chicago the summer before he starts Hogwarts.
( Draco detests Muggle transportation, but Trans-oceanic Apparition is complicated, dangerous, and draining. )

May. 22nd, 2007 09:03 pmDUDE!! Man, I am so in love with the Dresden 'verse! Seriously, god. I'm about two chapters into Book 4 and ( cut for spoilers )
Reno! In just a couple days! *is massively excited*
I'm sooo behind. Like that's news. But I'm online tonight, trying to play catchup and whatnot. And stockpiling fic to read later, so if you have any good recs, link me? I'm gonna try to get on Y!M but it kicked me off last night for no reason and I may have to restart to get on. We'll see.
I need a Dresden icon...

May. 16th, 2007 08:27 pmI just finished the first book of The Dresden Files & I like it more than I like the SciFi series.
Okay, so I'm still in a crappy crappy mood. And I hate it. So, I decided this afternoon that the only thing to do is to stand up and say "Self" b/c that's what I call myself), "Self, get over it! Choose to be in a good mood!" And you can help! Tell me something good that's going on with you, leave me a happy picture, link me to something I missed. Anything!
I haven't read LJ in days, except for a few select LJs that I stalk, and I am NEVER gonna get caught up on my flist. Sorry yall. I am gonna work my way through comments & emails tonight, though.
Also, I promised a post about the wedding, before all the craziness, and I'll post that later tonight to. So yall can laugh at me and my silliness.
Ohh, wanna hear some of my silliness now? I was thinking earlier that I wanna read strip poker fic (have no idea where the thought came from) and that it should be J2, or maybe just Dean and Sam. So then I was thinking about Dean & Sam in some no-name motel playing strip poker (and there was quite probably alcohol involved) and of course Dean kicked Sam's ass, and then once Sam was naked Dean pushed him outside of the room and locked the door. So Sam's yelling at Dean through the door but has to stop and cover himself and nod a "hey, how are ya" greeting to the old couple leaving the room next to theirs, and then he goes back to yelling at Dean and Dean just laughs and says it's payback for something that Sam had done.
More also! Like I said in my rambly phone post, I'll be without internet most of the weekend (but my brother is out of town, and I have a key to his house, so I may just go steal his) and I've got several things I'm working on but they don't like me right now, so we'll make this a drabble request post. Leave me a fandom, a pairing, or a prompt and I'll drabble for you this weekend. Try to make it something I actually can write, since I'm still not feeling QaF at all, and I can't write like, Heroes fic or something b/c I don't follow that show. K?

Apr. 8th, 2007 10:43 pmI'm currently distracted by the shiny dark that is The Dresden Files, so not a lot is being accomplished. Also, I tried signing in to Y!M but it's being a bitch.
There are still a lot of awesome prompts at
slashfest waiting to be claimed! Various pairings, various fandoms. Claiming is open until Tuesday midnight.
[Rules & Regulations] [Requests A-G] [Requests H-R] [Requests RPS-Z]
( Here are some that I'd really love to see claimed: )
Go forth and claim something! Have fun! I've already made my two claims. Yes, I know that we can have 3, but I limit myself to 2.

Apr. 8th, 2007 08:50 pmHappy Easter Everyone!
I had a migraine develop Thursday afternoon, and it plagued me on and off until Saturday. Saturday afternoon, I thought I was finally rid of it and was looking forward to playing online last night, but by the time they called the game (b/c it was too cold and too windy and too blowing-snowy for baseball) it had come back. So I went to bed at like 8 or 8:30 last night, got up around 4 or so to do Easter Bunny stuff, and went back to bed.
Other than the headache, I volunteered at Ronnie's school for Multicultural Day on Thursday. They turned the cruise into a "cruise ship" and had a bunch of different destinations for the kids to visit so they could learn about different countries, do art, play games, etc. It was lots of fun. Opening day was so fricking cold and windy. We went to the game, though, and stayed for the whole thing. We lost by one run. Still, it was a good game and I'm so glad Avalanche season is back. Weather permitting, of course. Friday was a shitty day at work, mainly because my head hurt & everytime my hoodie slipped back so it wasn't covering my eyes, I got all dizzy and naseous. But I was in a good mood so it really sucked. Yesterday, we did two church easter parties and a bridal shower. I'm kinda excited about my cousin's wedding next month, even if I do have to go buy a dress. Today I did nothing. Lazed around and reread Strangers (Dean Koontz) which is one of my all time favorite books. I think it was actually the first book I ever read where I was so in love with the characters that I hated to see it end. I also spent most of today listening to the music
phaballa sent me. Not really hearing it, just listening, so maybe I'll pick it up by osmosis or something. And I may have gotten the OTH Road Mix from iTunes...
Okay. I really am gonna type some stuff up tonight. While I watch Dresden. There has to be someone else out there that watches Dresden, right? I'm not the only loser hooked on this show?
